  1. In Cornwall you don’t . The reason being is you are detached from the modern world .

  5. Can’t you just get a nice round plastic disc with a grill and use that as an outlet ? A flat ‘vent’ effectively
  6. No one commented on my studwork . I must be getting better 😁
  7. Yeah I did think that . Not much timber against floor though . ( might do that anyway )
  8. Looks like an elephant is holding my phone !
  9. Struggled with a suitable title . I’ve got a door frame fixed in some stud . I can’t screw through into the concrete slab through fear of hitting ufh . The side the door closes against though is loose- can’t see a way to fix it ( easy to move ) . So for the moment I made this crude brace . Screwed to the frame then back to the osb wall . Does the job - but you know - there must be a better solution …?
  10. Just multi tool the thing - easy !
  11. For heating on its own I recommend genius hub .Been using this in 3 properties for years now . Main ‘issue’ is simply replacing batteries . I guess it all depends how much effort you want to integrate everything into 1
  12. I’ve pretty much done everything you want onto 1 system . Did try a Mac based one ( support was poor ) . Fibaro hc3 , Vera etc . pc based homeseer appears to be the best . Be prepared for some work and confusion though !

    DIY lights

Right ! Then I shall make it so ! The advantages with this method are no sparky required can change to zwave /zigbee/matter -whatever myself ( no Din stuff ) Gets the controllers out the IT cupboard so frees up space . Less wiring back to it cupboard and CU Which lights are controlled by which controller totally upto me As we will have a “ Swindon office block “ type ceiling I can alter light placement with ease . perfection !

Need to start thinking about my kitchen ceiling lights - all HA controlled . Rather than get a sparky in to add a zwave din and wire all the lights can’t I just wire them in parallel to a ‘ in the ceiling ‘ plug socket . Then I can change my automation z wave to maybe zingbee . No sparky required 😁 Kitchen lights all low wattage led - so no issue off a standard plug socket . Anything wrong with this plan ??
  16. Whilst late to the party ( busy cleaning up bodily fluids ) . A screen should never face the doorway ! - In coming humans should not see your “ hobbies “ .
  17. Hang on ; it’s shite . It gives laser measurements not the ‘rape’ measurements which is what I want !
  18. Talked myself into buying the hiss digital tape measure . Will report back on new toy . Hope it can measure things longer than 6 inches …
  19. I really want a digital tape measure . You know like a traditional measure ( you can hook over the end ) - then I’ve got slightly messy chance of f ups .
  20. Euphemism???
  21. This is @Onoff ‘s bakers
