  1. Floors first. Then tile down to the floor with a 1mm gap. No dirty, bottom grout line etc. A old Welsh boy taught me that trick.
  2. Perimeter expansion strip isn't it?

You know me so well! ?

    Hello!

My lads bedroom has a door into the eaves. It was once a plan to do the doorway as the TARDIS and create a sci-fi themed den. Could have, would have should have... ?
  5. Welcome. Great attitude to have a go at everything. It's about the journey not the destination! Keeps the old grey matter ticking.

    Hello!

It's a lot bigger on the inside.
  7. Seller is an arse. A promise is exactly that. I'd arranged my weekend around going to get it. Hopefully he dies a painful death when the door falls on him in tomorrow's gales. Karma.
  8. Tbf, to date, I've only had good experiences buying.
  9. Well that little exchange with a seller on Gumtree has really knocked my faith in the site and people having common decency! Agreed to collect a door from the seller Sunday afternoon. I was actually going to make a +200 mile round trip as it was the exact size I needed. Gave him my phone number etc. Received a message tonight: "Just to let you know Door is now been sold Sorry" I messaged back that I thought we had a gentleman's agreement and that I wasn't impressed. "I've been let down before by people promising to turn up So whether yr impressed or not it's sold" I know how Gordon the Gopher is feeling tonight.
  10. ?
  11. I've moved 18T about the same size but twice the length as the container on floor skates. Mind that was on a glass smooth warehouse floor..... (It only fell off once... ?)
  12. If I buy a s/hand upvc, 2 panel door that needs a piece of glass for the top panel, how much smaller than the opening do I order the new piece? Cheers.
  13. Have a look at Slimbook Battery 3, gives "advanced" power management options. https://slimbook.es/tutoriales/aplicaciones-slimbook/100-slimbook-battery-3-app-optimizar-bateria-portatil
  14. Sounds like mine. Pics of the inside on page 3:

  17. The original thread had Photobucket pics in so no use now. I'll redo it sometime. Meanwhile here's the gist: https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/topic/9640-electricians-insulator-stripping-tool/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-164203
  18. Down here was once known as Bidonville with good reason. Pretty much every dwelling was a shack. It was the done thing to put down a layer of crushed, broken glass pre any floor slab to discourage rats.
  19. Fun facts on adder bites. We get quite a few around here: https://www.arc-trust.org/facts-and-advice-on-adder-bites
  20. There are a few apps like Wifi Signal Strength Monitor you can get for your Android device.
  21. Muddy the waters is probably about right! ? Arguably on a TT you'll have done all you possibly can by fitting a 100mA td rcd upstream (& DP 30mA rcbos downstream). What alternative is there? Imo always try and fit all the RCDs of the same make so you can take it up with the supplier/maker. Makes it easier to get a replacement to swap out.
  22. 100%. The 100mA needs to be time delayed to counter this.
  23. RCD trip times can and do vary due to the mechanical mechanism. They can get stiff / gum up. It's why they should be regularly excercised by pushing the test button.
  24. Why is everything on eBay, Gumtree etc, up North, so much cheaper than down here in the South? Looking at 2nd hand upvc doors. Tredegar, Barnsley, £50 - 60. Down here triple it minimum! ?
