  1. All my plumbing is done standing on the shoulders of others on here...including you now! ?
  2. https://www.ct1.com/contact-us/?target=distributors
  3. There's a check valve for the outside tap the other side of the wall in the picture. Single or double I couldn't say! The mains then travels across the house to the kitchen where there is a double check valve. That WAS once the only mains water tap in the house. However...reading your comment made be realise that the new bathroom's cold at the basin isn't "protected" by a check valve! Thanks for that, I'll get one.
  4. Cos Nick said so! I can live with the pressure as long as I use decent hose and fittings. Tbh it's a boon having a big garden on a slope etc.
  5. If water can get on top of the dpc/dpm at the edges and sit between that and the underside of the osb it'll rot. Make sure the dpc doesn't stick out too much and form a "catch tray". Your dpc needs to be minimum 150mm above the surrounding ground. You can even think about covering the edge of the dpc with something like upvc strip and bringing the shed cladding down over it a bit. It certainly won't crush under the weight though.
  6. Ta. Can it really be 4 years since I did the water meter? ? I'll strip the PRV tonight and report. Dead easy tbh as I can isolate at the stopcock in the picture and there's then a 15mm ball valve on the mains up in the loft. I can drain to under the suspended floor. Only thing I recall from this is I should have put the PRV in horizontal according to the manufacturer's instructions.....which I just skimmed.....and missed that point.
  7. Any balance issues along with this possible tinnitus? I only ask as SWMBO has Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. Affects her balance and hearing. The local GP is pretty useless tbh but it seems trying the "home Epley Manoeuvre" might help. She's been on at me for months to help her try this. Something to do with crystals in the ear canal shifting. https://www.tinnitus.org.uk/balance-and-tinnitus
  8. Isn't that what Jamaicans eat for breakfast?
  9. I've one outside tap before the PRV and that pushes water through the hose at a ridiculous 8 - 9bar off the incoming mains. (I'm frequently splitting hose pipes and popping off cheap hose fittings. The reduced pressure mains (3bar) then runs up and over the top of the house to the kitchen. There's then a check valve, can't remember if it's single or double, and another outside tap. The pressure at this second outside tap is dire. Tbh the kitchen mains cold isn't that good. I know I need to clean the mesh filter in the PRV some time but can check valves "clog" over time? Cheers
  10. I don't think he's bs'ing you tbh: https://www.designingbuildings.co.uk/wiki/BS_EN_1090 This is the fab company I use. See how they have their CE accreditation on their home page. http://www.pwnash.co.uk/
  11. On getting back to my car yesterday:
  12. Haven't you got a decent sized pond next to the house? Ditch the ice box and use the pond instead:
  13. Page 1 here, @Nickfromwales is saying about rubbing with cement to get rid of any mould release agent:
  14. Vacuumed too?
  15. Used them with a base from memory (and that's fading). The cable comes thru a small hole in the pb and terminates in the base that's screwed to the ceiling, then the alarm, be it smoke/heat or CO2 clips/twists into that. A bit bulkier than Aico. Some pics somewhere...on Tinypic or maybe Photobucket that I don't use anymore... Edit: only pic I can find:
  16. By choice Aico but I did once fit some Kidde wired stuff on the hurry up as it was all they could get. Tbh it was alright imo and easy to fit. Been in 5 years with no issues.
  17. FFS it's a link to YOUR thread where you asked about removing beads etc! ?
  18. Didn't read that. In that case wine cellar/ red room / dungeon.
  19. My remaining suspended floors will be dug up then rebuilt back up with min 150mm pir and concrete slab with UFH.
  20. Fu all, I'm going for a shower!
  21. ...could have avoided all this agg if you'd have just cast the floor to falls... ?
  22. He's not doing the neighbour's architect daughter is he? ?
