  1. Plan was to fit laminate flooring so lifted carpets and found this. 100 year old Glasgow tenament fairy solid but 6 to 10mm gaps. Read quite a lot but as it in good nick would want to nail the odd squeaky board then wax it. I'm thinking a squirt od black silicone for the gaps afterwards? What says the forum? 2nd floor so no real ventilation issues. More the gaps collect grime.
  2. Maybe @Nickfromwales What you don't see is the waste pipe 45mm that the rubber connector is jubilee clipped to. plan A, solvent weld from that back towards the saniflo then drop from 45 to 40mm and use existing rubber connection to the ugly (expletive deleted)er
  3. Well, fitted but it is still leaking. I need advice, can I replace this with solvent weld ?
  4. I will update this in case it's of any interest to others...
  5. This is leaking and in operation as the pump burps the pipe moves so guess this is why we need the ribbed flexibility.
  6. Hard to say on the forum...plan B is to cut it off using a multitool. Then replace. I still think the seat can come off and maybe use a couple of G clamps to fully retract the housing. ??? It's not easy to offer suggestions without being there in person
  7. Thanks folks @nod this is your specialist area...?
  8. I think you want to press the grey plastic tube into the pan seat...is it on a spring? And lift the seat free if you can. Then the screw, use a powered tool and unscrew but at the same time gently lever up the metal fitting so it's pulling as it turns. Obviously protect the porcelain from scratching.
  9. We have a potential new office and its open plan rectangle. An old shop unit 5m frontage and 24m deep. I want to put in stud walls 3.6m high to make two rooms, interview room and training room. Dims are 3.6 m high, walls 8m and 3 @3.5m so 18.5m x 3.6m gross. 4 big windows, single glazed fixed panes just to let light in. 2 x doorframes and doors etc. 4x2 battens, plasterboard, filled with rockwool, plastered, painted and skirtings. And a small kitchen fitted, sink, 2 base units, worktop, 2 wall units. Been quoted £13k, any thoughts on this for value? We have to buy the kitchen units, everything else down to the builders. Its from the guys that are currently on site who are basically fitting out after a full back to walls rip out, so new framing, plasterboard walls, ceiling, electrics and heating, they are currently working for the landlord but we responsible for internals.
  10. Quick question. I now have the joy of fixing this, is it okay to use McAlpine compression fittings below this timber floor? There's little to no access other than through the floor once it's done meaning ripping up the floorboards and finished engineered timber final floor finish. @Nickfromwales Two elbow bends and a boss to attach to the soil pipe that's down there
  11. The elderly parents in law have been in dispute with a nightmare extension. They are very independent and want to deal with it themselves but after a call with the wife the other night they admitted it's really really getting to them to the point they are considering selling up. So called around today to look at the blocked sink and traced it back to this. What you see here is the sink waste exiting the back wall of the legacy house on the right. On the left is the joist of the new extension. We think the elbow bend was the original waste from the old kitchen but it was crumbling in my hands and there's a clear 4" between it and the pipe below. Wasn't connected, the whole lot covered on gravel and old brick/ stones and this is where the kitchen sink and dishwasher has been going for months, FFS.
  12. I misread the bit about bubble bath as bubble wrap...stuff if full with bubble wrap instead...? @Conor speaks sense, stick them on gumtree or eBay and have a curry
  13. But Putin can sit at the end of the dining table...
  14. It's on a hill overlooking an estuary...white render all over and window detailing...
  15. Stuff it fully in the pipe just in case it wriggles free
  16. See my other post about the passive high rise blocks. *Some* are doing it but this retrofit was £13m for 350 plus homes.
  17. Oh it can be done, passive standards achieved in ex council high rise here in Maryhill. https://passivhaustrust.org.uk/news/detail/?nId=868 Residents report that they love it, very low bills and great airy feel with triple glazed balconies
  18. How can I copyright passivehoose and make a shilling?
  19. https://t.co/m74sdRrq0B Just read that in a U turn Scot Gov will now back a private member's bill for new building regulations introducing passivehoose standards or a Scottish equivalent.😜😜 Superinsulated Airtight Triple glazed MHRC Lack of thermal bridges.
  20. Got a little mould (small and can paint over every year or so) but thinking of fitting the pvc slats. It's on plasterboard ceiling do I need to strap it or is it clips or adhesive? Also where would you buy this folks, it's a small room 2m by 2m roughly. Finally, it's already tiled so would you recommend a trim for the edges or a sealant. Thanks
  21. Welcome @irnbru my young son.
