  1. My drive is very dark (till you enter it and a little floodlight comes on). Seeing the gateposts was the biggest problem when reversing out (yes I know but it was like this when I bought it) so I put vertical LEDS on the gateposts which activate when the electric gate is open and also controlled by a light/dark sensor so no operation during the day.
  2. So being France is it not up to the Mayor to approve?
  3. Unless you are over ruled by her indoors (like I was) 🙄.
  4. Yes the screws become loose and then the serrations get rubbed off.
  5. I agree that would give more insulation to the wall and worth considering.
  6. I so wanted an induction hob in my build but her indoors wanted gas!!! I first used an induction hob when on a cooking course and was well impressed.

    Here is my CAD
  9. Sorry I meant 4.8 (git confused with my own comment on red rawlplugs !!!). Great idea to do tests and what works best for what you have. 👍 personally I hate normal hammer drills, SDS does such a better job IMO.
  10. @Thorfun your over thinking this, DeWalt don’t know what substrate your drilling into and as said above different materials re act in different ways, is your drill SDS? Is it blocks or poured concrete your drilling into.? there is a view above that SDS does not drill accurate holes (that I have not exieriehced) so buy a 5.5,, drill and try it, if too tight then get a 6mm (or buy both fir the few quid they cost 🤷‍♂️)

Welcome, what kind of “programme “ are you looking for. Do you mean Type of construction or looks.
  12. I am not sure the OP is using an SDS drill but the one stove is SDS. I have used SDS drills fir concrete screws to good effect in the past (but at 8mm for mine). your as bad as me, 11.30pm Christmas Day 🤷‍♂️ what are we like.
  13. I love thinking outside the box as you have. I have never worked with cork and no idea of its structural integrity and I think this is the crux of the mater. Hopefully someone here knows its strengths and weaknesses and will be able to advise on this matter. Regarding the hardboard as long as you don’t wear high heels up there or any point loads you MAY be alright but I would prefer say 10mm OSB for the top layer.
  14. SDS ? https://www.fixfast.com/sds-4-8#length=6891
  15. I am the same with red rawlplugs 5.5 in softer stuff and 6 in hard stuff. Try 5.5 fir one and see how it goes, if too tight then use 6mm .
  16. Yes, Too important to get wrong. I bought some last year for a job and the drill size was specified on the box. @nod will tell you the best ones to get 👍 (back to my mince pie and cream 🎄)
  17. Or buy a “normal” one and cut it down to what you want.
  18. Was thinking the thread in the valve was stripped and these valves are cheap enough.
  19. Yup, 50 years ago and only got to do a new build 6 years ago.
  20. Try one and see 🤷‍♂️ if I can't fit the ceiling I'm going to have to spend time with the family over Christmas instead. your leaving it a bit late
  21. And fixing taps and creating art 😎
  22. An elegant solution my friend, where would we be without mole grips?? On Christmas Eve 🤷‍♂️, you should be able to replace just the cartridge (measure the gland height) https://www.toolstation.com/made4trade-14-turn-ceramic-tap-glands/p66307
  23. I think many people don’t consider what THEY want enough. Why get a professional designer in IF you know what you want, Yes they can make suggestions about what will work but it’s you that will live there.
  24. Having never done or been involved with this kind of kit, does it matter? 🤷‍♂️, as long as there is enough (not too far apart to create sag).I do have a reputation to over engineer stuff.
  25. Just looking back at the pics and there are two down pipes above that end of guttering so a large area of roof water into a small area at the end of that gutter, I would suggest too much.n Has anyone done a rainwater/gutter calculation? https://www.briarwoodsupplies.co.uk/pages/guttering-calculator?srsltid=AfmBOoo8gRgO1_cK0F4fUQ1bIhBmLiimLUEswuW8F6dS6vdLUkEriGFP
