I think all the packs have been opened now but just wanted to warn others! ;-) My Screwfix branch are great too, they probably would take them back if I asked. Did you hear that @Construction Channel?

I'm posting this because they are SOOOOO bad I don't want anyone else to go through the pain. Screw fix own brand Collated screws are mince. We set out with around 15,000 Technofast screws and were doing fine using the Senco. Started to run out and bought Easyfix from Screwfix which I don't recall any issue with. Then i got 3packs of Screw fix own brand screws. What a mistake. They are harder to drive in. The frequently mis-drive, I've no idea how that's possible. And the plastic magazine thing gets stuck in the gun mechanism everyone unless you remember to kink it after ten screws - which when you're doing a run is easy to forget to do. We've got a couple of packs left, other half has the same issue with them so not just me. Thinking of binning them they are that annoying. There. Off my chest.

I've struggled with this but my problem is rain - in particular, at night when I can't get it to tune out the rain using the sensitivity settings. We still have 3 other webcams that record the stills ever minute which are very handy for searching back. I bought one of these guys for the initial PTZ cam we had and it did the job for sure, but interesting that overall it is no better than the two tiny IR lights on the Reolink. I was looking at it the other day not sure what to do with it - might have ended up in the bin if I hadn't just checked there how much it cost! If anyone here wants it, it's yours for a donation to charity. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50m-Infrared-IR-Illuminator-LED-Security-Floodlight-Lamp-for-Night-Vision-CCTV-/252270556706?hash=item3abc7f3622:g:tOwAAOSw9GhYhjxz

I've got a Reolink PTZ cam on site and going to expand with more later on. Apps great, functionality, controls etc and good. They are on PoE , very easy to setup too. The other day we were working in the house and an alert came through - two seconds later there was a knock on the door. I think Hikvision is another brand to consider.

The same as Jeremy, it's something I've been thinking about for a good while - we have the slope for it! I visited the funicular house, it's out of action just now, problem with the winch but he has all the original technical drawings/specifications that I could probably borrow at some point. But House first, garage next, some TLC for the cars and then see what happens -
Imagine the various scenarios of living in the house. Arriving home from work. Arriving home with bags of shopping. Coming in from the garden rather dirty. Holding a dinner party. Having family round for dinner. Getting the dishes done after a formal dinner. Watching a movie. Reading a book. Reading a book whilst a partner watches a movie. Friends round with their children - where do they go? Walkthrough each scenario with the various layout permutations and you'll get there eventually - there is no right or wrong answer, just what will work and what will work best for you.

Funny you ask - I don't actually know what it is - the switch and packaging is completely devoid of any manufacturer logo, which makes me suspect it's a cheap version of something better. It's a glass front http://www.wirelesslightingstore.com/glass-switch-touch-only-switches/MG-UK02W.html I'm looking at these too https://hartingtonheath.com/product/i-lumos-luxury-white-crystal-glass-panel-touch-controlled-led-light-switches/ - Never heard of I lumos before - a known brand? We've both actually spent about 5 mins turning a light on and off in the flat with the glass switch and both want them in the new house. Just need to find the right quality brand and price..

Now I wish I'd never asked... Ordered a glass rocket switch which is lovely, but also a touch switch - which I absolutely love. It has a very dim blue LED light which will be great in the dark. The only problem is that we have over 30 sockets and over 30 switches and other paraphenalia...oh well, so much for coming in well under budget.

Floor insulation perimeter installation? (block build)
jamiehamy replied to JamieM's topic in Heat Insulation
I won't make any difference but in terms of when they come to do the screed - it will probably stay in place better if you wedge it down rather than place it on top. i.e second drawing. -

No access to the back - you can see the funicular here - it's the house next door. I wonder if they'll install a tower crane - not a chance they will get anything up there with a pallet of anything heavy surely? -
@Trw144 and @Bitpipe - We're about to order about £4k of kit from Lusso Stone - we were going to get the wastes from them to match - did I pick up earlier they are not great quality? Also a bit down the line are you chaps happy with the product? @Bitpipe - is your shower tray Lusso? I'm thinking of going down that route if they can bespoke the sizes for us. THanks, J

The house a few doors along actually has it's own funicular railway up to the front door as well as a path! -
I think it's 3.5m. We did thid one by making a temp platform across with 4x2 and osb but that won't be possible once the balustrade goes on - it's about 4.8m from floor to ceiling. Hmm..

My understanding from having two cars on lpg is that gas being heavier than air, it needs to vent downwards to the ground. This is supposedly one reasons cars on Lpg are not allowed on the Channel Tunnel trains. Same with my camper - the vent goes down through the floor. If gas is run below the slab, is there not the same risk on gas being unable to escape?

Pity your further on - we'll have a plasterboard hoist going soon, bloody brilliant piece of kit! Can put full boards up with one person.

tbh it's really six and half a dozen. Initially I thought split across the width and join with some osb/4x1 but the longways cut will do fine. I would cut across if I was doing it today. Sorry that's not very helpful!

Now That is looking good. I've ordered a switch and socket. If we like it will contact for a discount - we have a lot of switches and sockets! Thanks all - keep 'em coming!

Hello, We're now looking to finalise the hardware for the electrics second fix in a couple of months. For the light switches/sockets, we want something modern, stylish and a wee bit different. We liked the look of the Trendi range and ordered a switch and socket - but really underwhelmed by the feel and operation of them - they look plasticy and feel cheap to use. Anyone any other suggestions - if you google TRENDI you'll see the idea we're looking for. There was another range we liked but they al came with a caveat that they might not fit a standard box which put me off somewhat. Thanks, Jamie

Hi Russell, Can you share a bit more about this? Something I'm interested in - we have a LOT to be painted! What paint, equipment, did you paint onto gyproc or plaster? Thanks,Jamie

It is true that a Deltic can't run full speed on the mainline light engine because it's brakes are so poor? I was told it can only do 100mph once it's coupled to airbraked stock.
