  1. Slurry will be perfect K Rend do a paint that will match your render (enhancer)
  2. We are just short of 5k for CT seems a lot for just two of us
  3. The BBC should be banned full stop There miles away from the BBC of thirty years ago Far from impartial
  4. Your renderers will put a fibre mesh over anything that’s not block Bricks concrete lintels Wires Pipes etc
  5. If it’s a very old large machine Your probably ok If it’s a shiny little thing It will disappear Thieves are always on the look out Most of the modern machines you see left on sites have a pretty good imobleiser fitted Thieves ten to Nick anything that’s can be unbolted Windows covers buckets
  6. I would just clip to the wall I never seen capping used But don’t suppose there’s anything to stop you using a conduit
  7. I wouldn’t worry about decibels Most of of which is just box ticking The Sap reports in general are such nonsense and a box ticking excise again We had no PV but still hit there target Planners insisted that we add PV in our previous build So we simply didn’t add it We told the final sap guy and he simply worked round it With a score of 89? PV would take us to 91 Who cares Certainly none of our prospective buyers You’ll be fine
  8. I would put anything other than dpc under the threshold It only needs to settle 5 mil and your doors won’t shut Ive done this on both of our builds without any issues
  9. I simply knocked the internal block out and made a thermal upstand out of kingspan
  10. You can render round these and fix to the render surface afterwards Or simply clip them down an render over
  11. An 800 garden wall will always be prone to cracking or shelling off So no guarantees no matter what you use You don’t need a primer on block work Just a 5 mil base coat and fibre mesh imbedded Then two coats of silicone Rend a couple of days later If it was a house wall You don’t need mesh or base coat Free standing walls are always prone to movement Tree roots etc
  12. No
  13. We’ve done both in our builds Full fill is cheaper and easier T&G is better if done correctly Beads can be a nightmare and probably won’t be cost effective for an extension There are plenty of generic equivalent s to kingspan that won’t be subject to a minimum order
  14. Around 16k spent on paving and not etc
  15. Have to check 19m2 plus 30 ton of sand and 80 ton of mot 20 ton of gravel for the remaining drive
  16. Nahhhhh We are almost there now 250m of paving still to do out of the 550m2 Electric gates going in as we speak 14k that we didn’t have to spend Weve spent 332k on 400m2 With 7k still to pay out But have 30-40 k vat claim to go in
  17. So many have asked how we’ve kept our build under a £1000 m2 Twice now Shopping around is a massive part of this Just this week I’ve brought in 100 tons of topsoil A massive £27 per ton From a quarry that I’ve had an account at for years Ive found a supplier at £15 ton Nice saving for just a handful of phone calls
  18. Bit untidy It will probably do the job You shouldn’t really see anything of the valley I’d have used a grey on with a small up stand Tiles and slate up tight to it Which you would hardly see And placed it down the centre line of the chimney and put the flashing on straight
  19. I’ve used a paste on ours without any issues and locktite on the rad thread
  20. Regarding merchants I’ve used several Prices vary wildly from one to another Ive had accounts with TP and formally Build Base for thirty plus years and a local merchant has beaten these on price for most things Except blocks and foundation blocks Sheffield insulation beats all on plaster products Online sellers beat all on lintels and underground drainage and Gebrits SHOP AROUND £££££££¥
  21. Short story Friends of our daughter had a single story extension built 35m2 original quote 124k Contracts drawn Builder cracked on Final bill 193k Took it to court and lost 10 k legal costs plus his There mistake was to use his SE and Architect Both backed him to the hilt As above as already stated Legal has to be the last option
  22. I laid ours myself 200m2 I was nowhere near ready for tiling after 75 days Back in the day I would lay a screed in the morning and in the afternoon Of course Things have moved on since then 😂😂😂
  23. I’ve seen plenty of tiled floors lifted due to being tile to early The moisture has to go somewhere If you get the screed down as soon as watertight It’s unlikely to be an issue Testing for moisture isn’t that accurate Or use liquid screed and tile within days
