  1. Online or otherwise BC will want that bit of paper or email
  2. It will also depend on how much you are doing yourself and if you have decided on Timber frame or traditional
  3. 👍
  4. I’m saying that if dot and dab is done correctly There is literally no difference If you go with wet plaster you won’t be able to use cavity closers Make sure the Brickies close all the reveals off old style Also wet plaster has a colder feel My main reason for Using dot and dab As a business we do both and tapering and jointing Sand and cent and dot and dab work out roughly the same cost Due to the difference in cost of materials
  5. What do you do when they won’t budge On both our builds We didn’t want MVRH due to the obvious reasons What would you have done If BC are telling you they won’t sign you off with TVs It’s ok saying it’s bad advice It’s wasn’t really advice We pressed them both times and was met with the same answer
  6. You will have to ask your taper not to seal As it’s normal to seal after sanding which is a sealer and hardener
  7. We were told by building control and our Architects No MVRH You need trickle vents on a new build Extensions refurbed No need Nothing in between Its crazy that the air testers tape all these up
  8. Wet plaster won’t make any difference Tarmack blocks
  9. I run a plastering business and I could have done either If dot and dab is done correctly You can achieve good airtightness Our builds both scored two Which is ok for high ceilings and three vaulted ceilings Don’t use thermaite The white blocks are fine with sand and cement 6-1 mix Parge coat is a waste of money Unless for sound Make sure your block work is pointed and bar jointed
  10. If I was restricted for thickness Id go for the thinner laminate and more underneath it
  11. You can only do your best No one checks these conditions Certainly not Building Control Ours where totally impractical All along our long drive We simply dug through the roots It was with that or have no drainage or workshop NO trees where harmed in this process All are still standing and full of leaves 😁 Our precious build had two trees with TPOs Which we were able to fenced off for the entire build Two years on the local water authority moved a hydrant from the base of one of the oaks and simply dug under with a five ton machine I rang planners thinking I’d could be blamed and all I got was Ah well Couldn’t be helped
  12. Because At the very least It would confirm that
  13. Warmup will do you a full heating design Free of charge
  14. Replace If you ever come to sell It will be an issue with the buyers solicitors We had our last treatment plant in for five years before we emptied it No smells Never needed to add anything to it
  15. More likely walk off site if you start telling them how to do there job
  16. We have one It’s ok But the water needs drinking straight away Gos flat
  17. I’ve run both my builds heating before tiling But in reality most commercial builds are miles off heating being up and running A multi million pound house that I’m ting at the moment 750M2 of tiling plus the swimming pool Is six months off commissioning the heat pumps and he’s opted for traditional screed
  18. It’s more after the tiling that you need to heat up slowly Most of the floors I tile haven’t had the UFH commissioned Make sure the floor has dried out
  19. Definitely can do it yourself Ive an apprentice that started out paving and is always moaning that coloring and sealing was his job Paying him next to nothing and charging 200 quid for each one
  20. Not after a few weeks But imprinted concrete will need Recoloring and sealing every couple of years So there are plenty of companies that do this I suspect they haven’t sealed it Doest help you find them But gives you an option
  21. Not really The client stands the cost We can order 150 bags of stone Clay works and only need a dozen burgundy colour But still have to buy 26 A half pallet If it’s a common colour I can store it But some colours are hardly ever used by us
  22. I’ve a pallet full of Clay works in various colours left of from a job that had to go in a skip At £80 a bag Our supplier won’t sell us part pallets It’s a pain
  23. Pipes that come with the insulation on Every pipe in the house is ready insulated Saves time
  24. Sort of wish I’d used these
