You can't have the BH shame cup, & the BH longest ever ever thread cup too. So greedy.

Hi J. Good q.. I can with a slight stretch. Made my tops fairly deep. I see your point it'll be annoying to stretch. The idea of the perf board stuff, plus whatnots you insert, isn't quite the affordable idea I thought. Im still trawling tho. So your idea here of an added sheet of ply & diy tool hangers, might be the sensible option. I do like the ease of popping in hanger whatnots wherever you choose to a holed perf board though.. it's sort of future-proof, if maybe not such a cheap idea. I'll trawl www over the wknd. Thanks chaps. Zoot.

Hi TBC. Well thing is partly I make my living in here, so the benches are as good as I want, but not the top here: with tools all in a bunch pushed to LHS I'm always digging about for a file or s'driver & so much swearing ensues. Im not doing my new workshop & new benches (both I made) justice. I saw this basement, on the tv show, so well organised & lit.. & got major yearnings for something similar. Even a french horn hanging up. Can't find a www photo eg of it tho. Thanks, zoot.

Hi Linto that's another two words I can use to search. Thanks alot. zh.

@Carrerahill Hi there that's useful to put a name to it thanks, perf board/ yup its this stuff indeed. I'll searc screwfix etc with these two words. What I need is a bigger 1400 x 80mm ( or so) 'perf' board. But are the hanger things specific to each Co's holes I wonder? or maybe a general standard " perf board Hammer Hanger" thing for eg, you buy & stick in.. Im just after the most cost effective way. Maybe if I wait someone might have done similar & recommend an eg. The hanger addition things seem likely the dearest part. Thanks, Zoot.

Hi chaps. I'm in need of a workshop wall addition for tools. I don't know the name I'm on about tho; I see eg's with a board fixed to your bench wall, with thousands of tiny holes in, you add tool hanger metal things into-? The best eg is on a TV show, Joe Pera Talks With You. A gentle comedy (like therapy it is), the main chap's paranoid girlfriend having a fine 'end of days' basement (stocked full etc) with a work bench & great wall thingy. I'll try source a pic. Best eg. My bench is a pickle as you can see, but so used to it Ive never organised my small (hand) tools. Just a tangle of xyz! Any help appreciated, zoot.

A**hole abusive threatening n'bors' Onoff, unfortunately. But thankfully that tiny sliver up there is their backward/ farthermost bit. And the bank immediately below that ladder/ scruffy top bit, actually is not theirs. Almost vertical steep to stream. We're uncomfortably close unfortunately, but, they have a mass of overgrown bamboo & a general established bigh "forest" of xyz plants hiding them from me 90%. Prior owners gardening experts you see, these two (since 2 yrs) not a clue so its all going haywire ott.. helping privacy a bit. zoot.

The hydro wheel leccy idea Im starting to think about now- would be so good, only need a small bit of leccy too.. The stream here is at its lowest btw, & never stops, so must be from an underground natural sping/ reservoir Id have thought.
-
Stream can swell to max 3 ft or so of quite rampant flow, eg after a 2 day deluge, making quite a racket akin to a waterfall. Pic looking onward past cabin here ( 6ft on from back pillar is my boundary end). Pretty wild this bit, no mans land really. Odd place to find two gooseberry bushes I thought ( @ pillar, another opposite bank). zh

Hi markc, thanks its a gem down here next to my stream. Good thing is wind 85% of time goes Leftwards ( in pic), back, & away from cabin, channels down our wee valley. Only really when air is still the tree likely to be affected, better once I lop the low limb off. zoot.
-
Argh blackbird nest @ cabin corner! 1ft from the wall, hip high, well hidden. Male keeping a bead6 eye on me on the nest. Dammit. Flue's gonna have to wait now until june+ when all fledged. I do dig me blackboids. How they tolerated me faffing with window taking on/ off 2ft from their nest Ive no idea. And my swearing. Have to crack on w'somehting else, but can buy flue bits over wknd. zh
-
Right then, back to going straight up! The birch isn't a tip top tree, it leans badly for light Rightwards as photo shows/ to my advantage. Yes can lop that branch too. So can use your link for the roof tricky bit. Big thx zoot.
-
Hmm. More dithering. Its a fairly nice birch, don't want to smoke it dead. And its just spreading its wings ive cleared alot more light for it. And here its not out yet.. but maybe yr right & Im being too sensitive.. pov from top looking down on it..
-
Hey that's good ST. Sounds a fab project after the cabin inside done/ flue mainly. Im not exactly on board with your reply right now.. but will pick this idea up definitely. Thx zoot.
-
Hi Peter, well once I know what bits to get.. then I was going to start www sniffing about. ProDave linked to a place. But it does seem wherever actually sells 4" bits might be the concise answer. Zh
-
Chaps, re. Flue.. perhaps @ProDave (PeterW- Ive decided to go out the back now, but many thx for your link via pm). Ive got my dims here, & a presumed sketch of one possible way. Would this be correct, or, elbow section D maybe an adaptor back down to 4" & up ? It seems to me getting the overall width, from A to D, tallying ( vertically) with my roof edge, that seems the tricky bit.. as I don't think you can cut section C to suit & align perfectly up. Thanks, zoot.

I need some beaver action J..

Hi ST. I had thought of this idea albeit last on my list (a whippet next to last!). Fly in the zootsoup is the stream swells so often. A big flow difference, plus height difference too. But in theory if it could ride both these factors itself, but might have to be industrial heavy duty to cope. Or I dip it in/ raise & lower it/ manually adjust it. Hmm. Lovely idea I must say. Flue first. Being trickiest bit of the cabin just to know what bits to get/ ie if they'll fit together. Not much choice of 4" flues you see, far easier if it was a normal 5" or 6". Thanks zh.
-
Dithering idiot here. Got a bit more £ & going flue out back now, not straight up. A birch tree adjacent to cabin LHS I hadn't accounted half overhangs cabin. So flue the extra 2ft further back is best. Thx zoot.
-
Why thank you sir! All thanks to these chaps on here really.
-
Hi J. Thanks, hope all's turned out ok for you recently. Zh

Not bad for £500? Cabin was. Great sun trap here too. Stream can be noisy tho! No power.. in fact I didn't factor this in when I applied for refugees. But vw camper days mean I know I can cope without, just. Some battery thing would be the way tho, surely an ipad could run from a 'block' something. Then just 1 light. All I need. No www tho. Download 2 vids per night/ & read = my 'boring', but v.satisfying evenings here ammount to! Its quite some distance from house. So both www, & electricity are nigh on ruled out methinks. Pic here is fairly good re. scale. Yes I always say co2 as well, co I think it is being mono. Very good point, certainly will do this. zoot.

Glad it passes the Onoff test! Im using alot more now, a great reading room with stream noise 'under' me, sun aims straight in front. I think time for a zoot's musical interlude before I jump into last stage. Just read a fab biography (Hoskyns) of this grisled dude. Thanks, Zoothorn.
