  1. Wait, you removed your dishwasher? Not wanting to start an argument or tell you how to wash up but they really are much better at using precious water compared to doing it by hand. And they free up that time to do something else. With regard to your standpipe, yeah that's a right fudge... You need a trap to keep the smells at bay.
  2. Uponor eurocone adapters, as pictured in this post above, do not require the olive. I've used them at 7 bar with no issue. The cheaper ones do require a split olive and will come with one if required.
  3. Make sure the split doesn’t have a compressor indoors or the noise will drive your tenants insane.
  4. If you need a new CH system then you should definitely consider an ashp. At 28/8 unit prices you’d need a COP of 3.5 to break even. Size your rads right and that achievable. And you’ll get decent mains pressure hot water too…. Agree with everyone else, insulate and seal up the gaps.
  5. Ah, so you bought that one then….. good luck. It was in my watch list
  6. I picked up a ‘for parts or not working’ press hun off eBay about 2 years ago, an early geberit cordless one that doesn’t have any electronics in it so doesn’t stop working after 30k presses. It needed some hydraulic oil and a battery. I’d never go back to soldering or push fit. I love the fact that mlcp will form a bend, and it’s always available cheap as chips off Facebook 😂 I recently got 100m of wras approved 16mm for £5 😏
  7. 2 stop bits? Ok.... that's, different. *Embedded electronics by day - my industry (offshore survey) runs on serial ports, still
  8. Yes, but you don’t need any fittings? And mlcp on a coil is cheap as chips these days….
  9. Manifold everything..... I'd press it all personally in MLCP but then I've got a press gun with U and M jaws, you might not want to go this far.
  10. You mean similar to the backing given by Fensa on my window installation? Yeah, I'll pass thanks
  11. The grant means you have to go through an MCS registered installer, that just drives the costs up massively compared to the retail costs of the actual kit. Just my observations...
  12. Remind me why you're bothering with the grant funded install again? You do realise that you can do the heatloss calcs and hp sizing yourself, buy a unit for about £3k and just pay a plumber to fit it (or do it yourself)? Saving yourself probably 5-7k in the process...
  13. Sikaflex..... you'll never get them off.
  14. That's what happens when you rely on an 'installer'
  15. The off-the-shelf heatpump offering from world heat, in the slimline size (all we have room for) comes with a 2m2 coil. The £650 vaillant unit off eBay has a 1m2 coil, it's not worth the reduction in price compared to a new one with the larger coil (£250 difference)
  16. I would assume anyone installing an ashp would be running weather comp, possibly even without a room stat once the curve is optimised
  17. I think the LGs will turn down much more than the others as their plated rating is a bit generous. They all seem to offer 5.5kW at 55 deg, irrespective of the size. To answer your question about where to find the data for other machines, it’s really a case of googling the part numbers and looking for pdfs. I agree with you that the marketing hyperbole from manufacturers and installers isn’t good. No wonder there are so many badly performing installs out there.
  18. McDonald taking their time - ‘I’ll have this quote for you later today’, 3 days ago 🤦‍♂️ Current thought process is swaying towards a 120ltr with a 2m2 coil from world heat, for fast recovery times. We can fit that in the cupboard and we manage ok with 120ltrs of 55 deg at the moment, although the shower is a 9kW electric 😔
  19. If the property layout means there aren’t that many doors internally, you could forget zones altogether.
  20. This is what mlcp was made for….. just saying’ 😂
  21. Very good question.... It's probably because the pump is a continuous displacement, instead of the continually variable displacement of an injection pump or common rail injector.
  22. Or the Partel Lunos - that looks like a good system
  23. Thanks for all the helpful advice, I appreciate it. We keep most/all internal doors open except when we sleep/use the bathroom. Would something like this be a good idea in the bathroom: Decentralised MVHR unit Ø100 mm with switch - EER100S (ventilationland.co.uk)
  24. Gutters and down pipes are good, roof is good, windows are Badly installed but I’m sorting that (no foam, fist sized gaps, upvc trim falling off outside etc). The house is dry, it just gets condensation and is a bit stuffy.
  25. MEV = mechanical extraction ventilation? dMEV = dedicated MEV (per room)?
