  1. Air-to-air multi-split and a direct UVC - simple and easy. Much better than an a2w setup in my opinion. This has the potential for cheap, low carbon heat, with very easy on/off controls, and allows full zoning as required by the regs.
  2. Clevercouplers will help you when it comes to zone valve removal, worth looking at.
  3. Ah, the great uPVC window scam….. When the fitters turned up to fit my wife’s windows 10yrs ago, she knew one of them from town - total coke head 🤣 Things haven’t changed… Fensa really isn’t fit for purpose.
  4. Another vote for CoolEnergy…. Super helpful, good product. Ask them for a written quotation, I think I paid £3k with the vat for my iVT-9
  5. Time and materials I guess...?
  6. pex-al-pex really is fantastic stuff. I've hammered it flat, drilled a hole through it, then used a winch to pull it through a tortuous duct before. Amazing stuff, I love it. I didn't have enough to do my recent UFH so went with some Continal that I had in stock, seems robust but a bit more springy.
  7. So the take home is, yes, use loopcad to design your pipe layout. It made it dead easy to plan and told me which of my pipe offcuts would be long enough 🤣
  8. Great success 5.2m3 down, including the porch footings and patio base. Puffed the pipe up to 5 bar.
  9. How does the labourer even manage to tie his shoes in the morning if he can't see tha ta kink like that is a fail? Probably too busy thinking about skirt, or doing another line of gear in the van
  10. Ouch…. Hope you weren’t paying the labourers who laid that 🤣
  11. I like stick builds too, I’m no good with a trowel. This is more to give us something that’s reasonably warm, but doesn’t end up with massively thick walls, but isn’t also single skin blockwork. The front door to the house will stay as it is, this is just an addition…
  12. Footings are going in for a 3m2 porch (pd size) and I’m now wondering how to go about building it. We’re coming up to dpc in blockwork, but above dpc I’m considering going for timber frame with render board on the outside. Does this seem like a terrible idea? The porch faces north and will be glazed on three sides from the middle up, with a double pitched roof. We will probably add some oak slips for an oak-framed look (wife’s orders)….
  13. Quick trip to site after work today to follow on behind the builders. My wife gave me a hand and it went down (sort of) according to plan in about an hour. Because of space constraints, I’m going to take the loops through a core in this wall then fit the manifold in the kitchen cupboard that’s the other side. Will press on some 16mm elbows and stuff all 4 through a 80mm ish core.
  14. Well that’s obviously because some ‘professional installers’ can’t read 🤣 I’ve seen that system boiler install that’s over in the other thread, there’s no way that person was qualified. If they were, then there’s serious issues that need to be addressed in the training sector.
  15. I went with clips, as I have them… only 16m2 though. hardcore, sand blind, bag, 240pir, bag, 125 conc.
  16. Easy, ask him for a day rate and tell him to crack on. Probably £300
  17. It’s all a load of tosh really, all you’ve got to do is follow the g3 regs. If you can read and understand instructions, you’re good to go.
  18. Fancy…. I’m used to batteries being batteries….
  19. Ah, well that makes things a piece of cake then. Just needs another charger hooked up to the DC bus.
  20. Yep, going with French now…
  21. Yep, a quick call to the wife this morning and we’re Ok with the French door plan. £1300 ish, perfectly within the budget.
  22. Ignore would be my choice too…. If you ever come to sell it, just lie.
  23. Interesting, I’ll discuss with my wife. You could well be right. I was concerned about the performance of doubles over sliders (I remember everyone saying ‘avoid bi-folds’ so I discounted them)…
  24. That’s my go-to supplier, they don’t offer 3G in sliders, despite their profile and mechanism manufacturer offering it.
  25. Knock it down, build a proper extension.. I know that isn’t remotely helpful, but conservatories are really a second rate solution to the ‘I want more space’ problem.
