  1. Did you bother checking them regularly? I did contemplate that but it's quite a large perimeter so hoped for an easier solution...........................................
  2. Evening, I'm contemplating going down the kwikstage scaffolding for my build and wondered about the ground conditions. I've roughly levelled out around my build but how does kwikstage fair with soft ground and clay which is bound to move and sink? Do they come with adjustable legs as standard? Do I rest every leg on a scaffold board (or are there special base boards) and then it's a simple case of checking them regularly to make sure they aren't loose? Cheers Vijay
  3. Are you ever in London or Northampton as I can get a few empty ones and maybe some full ones too
  4. I didn't push it with the pump company, I mentioned it and they said yeah no problem, we're already aware of it for self builders.
  5. Sorry guys, I don't get the logic. What's the difference from a ground works company turning up with a digger and a pump company turning up with a pump? Surely your paying the company to do a job, you're not hiring the machinery and doing the job yourself. Why would one be zero rated and the other not?
  6. I don't think I did, it's like paying for any trade who use their own tools. You pay for the pump company and there tool is their pumps. Have a read in this post where I asked https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/topic/2646-zero-rated-vat/?tab=comments#comment-40685 3.4.2 Goods on hire Goods hired on their own are always standard-rated. Examples include the hire of: plant and machinery (although plant hired with an operator can be zero-rated where all the conditions in sub-paragraph 3.1.2 are met)
  7. That's not true Peter, the last lot of concrete I got for my ICF walls was a seperate company to the pump company. The pump company was zero rated. I'm sure it's because you're not hiring the equipment, your getting the equipment with operator
  8. Can't believe life is that hectic for you guys that you need a sit down wee to check your phones lol I don't think a single urinal will look like pub toilets, but do take on board that they are associated with them and that's what people will instantly think - not the home I'm looking for!! lol
  9. no mate, for a wee lol I'm sure there are plenty of other designs. I just wondered about the concept of having them
  10. As a single bloke, I always thought they were a good idea but never seen anyone fit them at all. I don't mean as a replacement for a toilet, but as well if there's space. I'm talking about the lidded ones like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Urinal-Roca-Nexo-M-Intake-from-Rear-Incl-Lid-with-Soft-Close-White-/392033444896?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10&var=660991914842 Anyone ever contemplated them? Vijay
  11. will do and enjoy that G&T
  12. By any chance, is there such a door that lifts outwards and slides to the side??
  13. this one https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/blogs/entry/405-a-difficult-day/ I'd appreciate it Lizzie. I got quoted £12,312.60 for 2 units plus £2350 for fitting which comes to £14,662.60 for the 2 doors. I knew they wouldn't be cheap but was surprised at that amount.
  14. Do you know which blog it was as I can't see any titles to do with doors? Did you consider any other manufacturers at all or was Internorm your only choice? One rep told me they were the only ones who did level thresholds
  15. Yep you're right, that's what Internorm quoted, so I'll edit my original post
  16. Just wondered if anyone could suggest any alternatives for Internorm lift &sliders. Pretty shocked at how much a 3.8m 3g slider costs so wanted to look for some alternatives. Also if anyone is happy with alternatives to a sliding door in an airtight house? Cheers Vijay
  17. I quite like the mosaic n the shower floor and something I might not have looked at normally. Does it make it easier to tile in the former rather than normal large tiles that I assume would need cuts? Is the glass just sealed with mastic on top of the grout line/ joint between mosaic and normal tiles? Or does it need more support?
  18. Now that's a happy response to a post!!! lol
  19. I guess that's an issue a lot of self-builders face, sometimes difficult to imagine sizes of things until you're physically standing in it
  20. I had it in my head that it would be a tiled floor so no tray (although it could be by the time I get round to it). At the moment I'm just looking to make sure I get the space right as there's a door position I have to get right.
  21. Right, min 900 it is then. I think I could possibly squeeze to 1000 so that would be great. I'm planning on an open part which would be on the side (glass panel). I have a wall length of 2446(could possibly get a bit more) so I could happily have an 800 opening and then 1646 of glass panel - so you walk in the 800 opening and turn right to go into the shower which is 1646 to the end. Very good shout about muddy dogs and wheelchair access. I'd thought of the dogs but not wheelchair access. I want to plan for any future as best I can so I'm so glad you've mentioned it. I don't think 800 is wide enough for my opening then to go in and turn right for a wheelchair?
  22. Trying to decide how much room I'll need in the downstairs shower room and wondered what a good size is for a walk in shower (with glass panel as wall)? I really don't want elbow knocking sides so want to get this right Cheers Vijay
  23. a mate used those a few months ago and said they were fantastic to use
  24. Nick have you ever used these? https://www.pureadhesion.co.uk/rubi-rubiclean-tile-grout-wash-boy-21998.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwwJrbBRAoEiwAGA1B_dGe6sMBjLoUyrqpDku9BypZNIGEB1jiWU0qvGbWGQgLlZrjdnYKOBoChRkQAvD_BwE
  25. I don't get the extra 20mm, isn't a sheet 2400? Or is it taking the ceiling plasterboard into account????
