  1. I guess bifolds could be an option but I'm still trying to make the garage airtight (ish) and warm as it's an area I hope to use all year round
  2. I did contemplate that but IIRC stupidly prices and also they tend to be pretty small so not too much light, which I could do with as it's a pretty big garage
  3. Must be a way of doing a level threshold or easy enough to make up small removable ramps. I thought of another roller but the downside is there would be absolutely no natural light
  4. Hi, Just wondered what the widest (actual opening itself) French doors anyone has installed and been happy with? I'm sure I saw somewhere a 2.2m but the window supplier I hope to deal with only goes to 1900 (I think that includes the frame though, so not actual opening). He said he believes that any bigger and you lose sealing performance. This is for the rear door in my garage and I would loved to have been able to move a car through it if I wanted to. Vijay
  5. I was told exactly the same thing by a few suppliers when I asked for brochures.
  6. Are you or anyone you know a member in Costco? they do a twin pack of 3.6m x 4.8m heavy duty tarps. They're definitely not the cheap rubbish that a lot of sellers say are heavy duty and IIRC around £20
  7. Hi Vivienz, Last place I contacted was https://firedoors.co.uk/ and they basically said if I sent them a picture of the door I wanted, they could replicate it with a matching fire door. Vijay
  8. or maybe these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100XNylon-Self-Locking-Label-Zip-Tie-Network-Cable-Marker-Tags-Cords-Wire-Str-YN/123315647616?hash=item1cb62f7480:g:pi4AAOSwr7ZW6oMW
  9. I wish I'd bought one before I started doing my pipework - found it a horrible job with a rasp. No point now as I've only got the rainwater pipes to do (although there's quite a bit). The guys doing the access drive used their petrol cutter, left it on the floor and turned the pipe against the blade - not the safest move I guess and stupid not to have a proper tool for the job when you do it all the time..........................
  10. even having the water gravity fed works on keeping the dust right down. Mine was just a small barrel with hose connector that was on a bench (so higher than my cutter).
  11. Thank you Mr Punter. I've emailed a few sellers and will contact Ahmarra too
  12. Afternoon, I need to have a 60s fire door between my house and garage. My plans spec a 762 door but I think this is too narrow and maybe I should match the other internal doors and go 838. Are there standard sizes for fire doors and has anyone come across nice looking well insulated ones? I also want it to be very secure. The wall between the house and garage is 370 so I guess I could have 2 doors if need be?
  13. Ebuyer had 480GB ones for under £70
  14. Exactly how I cut all my blocks and worked well
  15. lol absolutely, but I like to learn as I go
  16. I might try this on a wall then when I construct them
  17. my load bearing walls are 100mm blockwork
  18. definitely not load bearing. Out of interest, how thick would the OSB racking panel be?
  19. That's what I thought. Any idea why he's then stated 150mm for finished walls??
  20. Hi, Am I right in saying 100mm timber is used for non load bearing internal walls? I've only got a few in my house and on the set out plan, they are sized at 100mm and on the finished plan, they show 150mm. That figure is the plastered size but where is the extra 50mm? Is 12.5mm plasterboard used for these walls? How thick is the plaster coat? Cheers Vijay
  21. Trust me when I say experienced digger drivers make it look simple! Maybe I'm too simple, but it took me a while to get used to the controls and getting the bucket going where I want and to the right depth when scraping - I personally would just get someone in to do it if I hadn't had a fair bit of time to learn the controls.
  22. oh this stuff is pretty tough, gone over it with my digger plenty of times and it doesn't come apart. Foot traffic is absolutely no probs on it
  23. the membrane is just temporary so I'm not walking in clay
  24. Time is against me mate. My plan is to lay geotextile membrane all the way around so I'm not walking in clay/mud to get me through winter.
