  1. If your neighbour is a keen gardener, and you've effectively lowered the ground level your side if the boundary to the level his side, he may have legitimate concerns about moisture draining more easily from his garden than would have been the case had you not excavated the additional 90cm.
  2. Email from Octopus last night confirms my expectation that we'll not benefit from the energy price guarantee as our average kWh rate (on Go) is below the capped rate.
  3. We used Scandia Hus but completed our build 5 years ago.
  4. One of the main reasons we chose the TF company we did was because they offered ESCROW account protection of stage payments.
  5. Which translates to, we can't risk falling house prices in affluent constituencies.
  6. Cracking good question from the Dorset West MP, Chris Loder, during PMQs today. Shame he tempered the impact by arris licking after the initial point. If you didn’t see it live, you can watch it at 16min 30secs into the following...
  7. Hard to believe he built it for £1.7m, let alone that he thought he could do it for £700k. So many of the more extravagant builds featured on GD seem to involve characters whose egos are more inflated than their bank balance can support. And as others have said, talk about naive handing over €250k up front without any contractual or financial security in place 🤔
  8. Second car as in for local journeys (solo or two-up). I had a JCW for a while and we've had other minis so appreciate they are fun to drive, but not for longer journeys, carrying grandchildren or towing our caravan.
  9. The range isn't a concern for us, it'll be very much a second car.
  10. Yep, our night rate has just changed to 7.5p from 5p. Day rate is now almost 40p but at least that is now fixed for 12 months. Should be possible to pretty much fully charge the Mini in 4 hours, though I doubt it will need charging much more than once a week.
  11. Exactly what I thought when I heard that number 👍🏻
  12. Just had a quote for a Zappi but awaiting clarification as to whether or not it will conflict with our Power Diverter. Our GO rate increases at midnight tonight.
  13. Okay, didn't realise that was an option. I'll check with Mini 👍🏻
  14. Yikes! Which home charger do you use Jack?
  15. Ah, we have one of the first generation Power Diverter fitted so that could be an issue. Chances are we'll only need to charge it once a week so may stick to using the cheap nighttime rate. I presume the Pod Point does at least allow you to programme the charging times?
  16. Thanks for that. My understanding was that Zappy requires a minimum input of 1.4kWh from solar or it will draw any shortfall from the grid. Are you saying you can limit it such that it only charges if sufficient there is sufficient solar to meet the minimum required? Was also thinking untethered, if only for future proofing against connector type changes 👍🏻
  17. Mrs NSS has a Mini electric on order so I wondered whether any of the electric car users among you have any recommendations as to which home charger to go for? Mini partner with Pod Point but thought I'd see what others would choose before committing. We have solar pv but rarely have enough surplus to make much of a contribution to car charging. As such, we'll aim to use the 4-hour Octopus Go night rate for charging so the ability to programme charging times is the only obvious requirement. Any suggestions/experiences would be appreciated 👍🏻
  18. Probably not the best (or most obvious) place to post that question so I'll start a new thread.
  19. Right, Mini electric on order. Next question, any recommendations as to which home charger to go for? Mini partner with Pod Point but thought I'd se what others would choose before committing.
  20. Thanks for that. Much appreciated 👍🏼
  21. Thanks @Carrerahill but most of that's flown straight over my head. Heat pump is rated 8kW output so I assume input is between 2 and 3. Main fuse is 100A so from what I think you're saying I guess I should be safe?
  22. Quick question. Wife wants a Mini electric. We're already on Octopus Go and use the four-hour cheap rate period to run the 8kW ASHP to heat the domestic water. Would charging the car at 7kWh at the same time have any unwanted consequences?
  23. We have Karndean flooring throughout and run the cooling input temp at around 12-14C which allowed us to maintain a floor temp around 18/19C through the recent hot spell. We were running it for 4 hours in the night and 8 hours during the day. As in Jack's experience, we've had no issues with condensation here.
  24. We've just arrived home from 4 days away. Left the underfloor cooling running for the four hour cheap Octopus Go rate in the middle if the night and between 10am and 6pm (when PV covers almost all the energy needed to run it). Left the MVHR in auto (fan speed 1 8am-8pm and FS2 8pm to 8am). Downstairs stayed between 22C and 23C throughout and upstairs (no cooling on) was at 24.5c when we arrived home at noon today.
  25. No mate, we're on Go and our FiT payments come via Good Energy.
