Help - Replacement Vanity Sink
Calvinmiddle replied to Calvinmiddle's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
I think I may have found a replacement - but just want to ensure I haven't missed anything. To recap - I have a large crack in this basin whose dimensions are in the first pic below I have found a sink that look similar here that is for this vanity unit. The only dimensions I can find are the second picture. Now I can see that the original sink has a width of 785 and the new sink loos to be a bit more that the vanity width of 796 (and from similar links earlier in the thread are likely to be 800+-2) the depth is the same at 445 and the height probable doesn't really matter. THe radius of the curve is the big unknown For £105 delivered do I risk it, yes the sizes are different but not by much, only thing that might be an issue is the radius of the curve at the front. Alternative is to get this black vanity unit from Victoria Plumb for £207 which is the same sink. I'm erring on the side of the £105 option, but am I missing anything?- 33 replies

Help - Replacement Vanity Sink
Calvinmiddle replied to Calvinmiddle's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Have contacted iBathUK to see if I can just get a basin, think there is a 15mm difference in width but don't think that will matter, worst case will be I get a new unit and hope it lies up with the holes already made in the wall- 33 replies

Help - Replacement Vanity Sink
Calvinmiddle replied to Calvinmiddle's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
I don't get it, these two look the same IBathUK and Victoria Plum but the dimensions are different. But surely there isn't going to be someone making two things that are 15mm difference in width.- 33 replies

How wet is the soil? And is it fine or stones? You may be onto something with the vacuum I would try a vacuum cleaner like this - I might do the job, mine is always picking up stones easily. http://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb351vac-1400w-20ltr-wet-dry-vacuum-cleaner-240v/56239

I need help For reason's I won't go into, we now have a cracked basin in the bathroom, it was this model and we were happy with it. I've asked if I can buy just a replacement sink from the seller, but they only do complete units, whcih is way too £££ for just a replacement basin. I know they are likely just rebranding a sink and I should be able to find one somewhere, but not had any success yet, can anyone give me some help or point me in the right direction? Any help greatly appreciated.

Here is a pic of our splash backs and the sockets. Also like the triple sockets even if I do say so myself
-
I have a glass one piece glass splash back. didnt want sockets cut out in it so I have them at the sides where I cut out holes in the units and they fit in between. Im not describing in well, but it looks good, very happy with them. I'll take a photo when I'm home

VHB tapes vs drilling porcelain
Calvinmiddle replied to Calvinmiddle's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Those drill bits say they are for ceramic, these are porcelain, and rock hard. That's why I had to get the diamond core drills before, and even then each hole took ages to drill and I had to use the wet sponge trick to stop it overheating. Appreciate that I may have to use a drill in the end but really am wondering if the tape is an easy solution- 24 replies

We have ikea bathroom cabinets to mount on our bathroom porcelain tiles. They are Godmorgon 40x14x96 and weigh 12kg each. I remember that the tiles being a nightmare to drill into to mount a towel rail, I had to buy some diamond drill bits and even then it took ages to drill into them and I was worried I might break the tile, they are large 60x45cm tiles. So wondering if I could mount the tiles using some 3M VHB tape like this one here Ikea had the tape on these hooks we used in the bathroom and I swear I could used them as rock climbing holds. So I'm thinking of getting a roll of tape and sticking it to wall side of the four sides of the cabinet, letting that cure for a day and then sticking it to the wall. Has anyone used that tape for doing something like this and did it work?

Mirror demister pads. How to switch them?
Calvinmiddle replied to Nickfromwales's topic in Electrics - Other
Nick I think you helped me solve this very issue over on ebuild!! it was a swipe on swipe off PIR switch with a panel? light and fuse to indicate if it was on or not. It works a treat, will take a picture when I get home and will hunt out the post on ebuild to link to.
