If I were you, I'd ....

I had a run in with Anglian Windows the other day. They broke my guttering while working on the neighbours house. Simple job to put right. After 3 days of not hearing from them, I called again. The woman on the phone was defensive and started arguing. So to get even I am posting up here that their customer relations are rubbish. But my guttering is now back in place and my neighbour has about 10 meters of fascia, 8m of gutter for, and I must have misheard this from him, £6500. I must check that price with him and see if it is correct as I think that is a job for trading standards. -
I don't. I may be some time away

I fancy something like that, but notice that it uses the same pins as an RTC on the RPi. I would have thought that it was not too hard to make ones own circuit to use a simple CT clamp and an RPi. Just cobbling together an energy monitor at the moment. These are some of the bits.

Are cement mixers dangerous?

Washing machines are pretty nasty. There was a case in Desborough, part of High Wycombe, where a woman had her hand wrenched off at the launderettes. Apparently it was like a horror movie with the woman wandering around the street with blood spurting. I missed it, by seconds, but my work mate saw it in all its gory detail. Now we have to wait a whole minute after the cycle has stopped before we can open the door. -

I don't get annoyed, just even -
it would make sense, as long as time is not an issue (which normally it won't be). By keeping the supply a bit higher than the return, and both higher than the sink temperature initially, it can run for longer with a lower risk of having to defrost. Makes for a good reason to put in a larger store if you can.

Yes, that is interesting as it could hurt the CoP when the weather is right and the cylinder is cold. But So some homework to do

When buying cordless tools, is it not best to buy what your workmates use. Then you can borrow a battery, for quite a long time. -
Have you got access to a copy of SPONS, ask around and I am sure others have. Will give you an idea of what to expect and if builders see you have a copy, they should know to be wary.

Most of Cornwall is a polished turd, why the outer edge looks so good in postcards. Old mate of mine is on the local parish council. He is from 'Up North' somewhere, and I don't mean North Country (look it up on a map).

Semi-conductors, which modern computers are made from, capitalise of quantum affects, so yes. All of chemistry can be explained with physical processes, along with some statistics. If physicists had been involved in the development of thalidomide, the problem would have been spotted and corrected a lot earlier.

You lucky thing, I left 4 decades ago, and Jack, who knows, 16:55, just in time for Crackerjack!

Yes. Comes down to F = MA where force is mass times acceleration. But to keep it simple initially, moving 1 kg, by 1 meter in 1 second, only, will use a watt of power The example of an object moving in space is a tricky one for a number of reasons: Space is curved Space is expanding Dark Mass Dark Energy Entropy is increasing Time varies

This is all the protection needed. Now we know who bought it at the Crowe's divorce sale. (making my scrotum itch just looking at it) -
So does it try and keep the temperature between the flow and return temperatures? This may, or may not be what is wanted depending on how the load is varying.

It is the only way to keep your clothes clean. I have a vision of an oiled gladiator with a blaster in his hand. Shall get my coat. -
I think this is a case of do it again. Who knows what will happen in the future when you come to replace the hob.

kW, or kilowatt, is the power of the unit. So if your 24 kW boiler is on for 1 hour, it has used 24 kWh of energy. A watt (not a wot, or a Watt, he was the man it is named after) is a unit of power. We use a capital W when abbreviating it but lower case w when writing it in full, watt. Power is energy use with respect to time. Often described as the rate of energy use. Energy is measured in joule (not jewels, Joules was the man it is named after). Like watts, we use a capital J when abbreviated and lower case when written in full. A joule is the force needed to move 1 kg, 1 metre. If we move that 1 kg, 1 metre in 1 second, then we have a watt. So you could imagine starting with a large box of stones, each stone has a mass of 1 kg, and you have to move them 1 metre. If you move 1 stone every second, you are delivering power at 1W, if you get some friends involved and move 24 thousand stones 1 metre every second, you are delivering at a rate of 24kW. Sweaty work and shows just how amazing electricity is. So to recap, starting with energy, joules, delivered at a rate, we get watts. J.s-1 = W Just to throw a bit more sums into it, there are 3600 seconds in 1 hour, so if you see energy use refereed to a MJ that is mega joules or million joules. So 3.6 MJ is 1 kWh. We really should sell energy by the MJ not the kWh as it would be a lot neater and easier to visualise.

Wish they could make silent ones. Neighbour across the road was using one this afternoon. And an electric planer. Noisy bugger. Shall get my orbital sander and angle grinder out tomorrow I think. That will drown out The Archer Omnibus -
Jot down what your electric meter says every morning and evening, that should give you a decent idea of what is going on.

Do you really need 8 channels. Two or 3 is generally enough. You can try and pick up an old CurrentCost Envi and the appropriate clamps and transmitters, You can then get 10 circuits monitored. eBay usually has some for sale. Dead easy to then hook it up to an RPi with a serial cable.
