Just for fun: here is the square-and-triangle tiling
SteamyTea replied to Garald's topic in Decorating
For your next project, try some pointillism, then maybe work up to chromo-luminarism. Or just spend a week at Park Güell with a bag of drugs for company. Antoni Gaudí knew a bit about tiling. As does our @pocster, would set his OCD off bigtime. -

When you can’t find a tape measure and then …

I feel the icy hand of the ghost of SMP. Try plugging some of those questions into ShatPEE. Q; Two men are digging a 52 m tunnel from opposite ends, one digs at 10 m a day, the other at 6 m a day, what time does the cat put the kettle on? -

Yes they are. I think the DHT11, the blue ones, got the range a bad name. That is useful to know. I wonder that the ESP8266, which I have a few of, works down to reliably.
-
Looks pretty comprehensive. The AM3202 is not known for reliability and accuracy, but I have used the 'sister' DHT22 with no issues. I even calibrated a few with the salt brine in a jam jar method and found them to be pretty good, unlike the DHT11 (the blue ones) that are very poor. How is that working out? My old powerbank was not delivering a high enough voltage, but it was very old and very, very cheap.

Anyone know where I can find jumbo sized MDF shelves
SteamyTea replied to Adsibob's topic in General Joinery
Just down to @joe90 to move and build his new workshop. He is pretty quick at this building malarkey, so should be delivered within the year. -

Yes, leave the boot open. Short 120 miles from your new place to London. Almost suburbs of the smoke. -

@Adsibob could be persuaded to procrastinate for months. I will deliver them on one of my trips up. In the scheme of things it is just down the road from where my mother is. -

MDF is often used purely for the smooth finish. A couple or 3 coats of a decent undercoat often gets you to the same place on cheap ply. I think it is about time you started buying some power tools. A small cordless circular saw, a long straight edge, some G-Clamps and maybe a cheap multi-tool. Assuming you have a drill already. With them, you can make a lot of things, except accurate curves. Then you can put that shed to good use, drink tea, grow a grey beard and smoke a pipe. -
Enclosing hot water cylinder stat in insulation?
SteamyTea replied to andyscotland's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
I boxed my cylinder in with a combination of PU sheet and mineral wool. Apart from making sure the cables to the immersion heaters are in free air, I did not worry about the thermostats. My thermostats are part of the element boss anyway. Insulation saves me about 2 kWh/day in standing losses. -
Picture may be useful. Maybe a 'spray mount' type contact adhesive. Superglue is pretty good as well.

My neighbours are stupid AND completely mad

St. David's Day today. The 'neighbours' have even upset most of the English listeners by singing on Radio 4 FFS. -

Take it you have never had twats as neighbours. A few years ago, had a small time drug dealer as a neighbour. When they eventually got thrown out by the landlord for being obnoxious, the real evil one said 'no one ever said anything to us'. The English don't. Silence is not acceptance. There was also the case that the other, slightly less evil one was a convicted arsonist. Got locked up for it a second time not long after leaving. -
High boiler modulation after pressure loss
SteamyTea replied to Adsibob's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
People that keep warm water fish know that, when setting up a new tank, the initial heating drives air out of the water. I assume a similar thing happens in wet central heating systems. So how much air comes out of the systems fluids? Have read somewhere that 10% by volume is not unusual. Helpful-Hints-Air-In-Water-Soluability (1).pdf -

SteamyTea replied to cheekmonkey's topic in Building Regulations
I think there was a similar question on here a while back. Seem to remember that it was a case of running some ducts and terminating them in a suitable IP rated enclosure. May be worth contacting OpenReach and seeing what they say. People have found that the 'guys in the vans' are usually very helpful. Generally if you have approval before a rule change, you work to the older rules. There does seem to be a fair bit of paranoia about regulations since the Grenville disaster, which is probably a good thing. But with something like Part R, there is probably little difference as it is not 'safety critical' (except for fire alarm systems, but then if they rely on a cloud based system, they will become inherently useless). -

I take it you have downloaded Part R and digested it. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1119957/ADR1.pdf Just tell them you use 5G Mobile Data.
