  1. Just having a major issue with the service provided by Buildzone and Meridian Consult. The process seems to have changed and we were oblivious to the change. Instead of having the one inspector to do both the BC and warranty we now have to have separate inspections. Warranty now appears to be with Approved Consultancy Services whose inspector has been extremely helpful but says they don't provide staged completion certificates. Everything was going smoothly with Mayflower but the lender is insisting on interim completion certificates which the warranty company do not appear to provide. Therefore we, at the moment, can't get a mortgage despite being made an offer! Anyone had a similar experience?
  2. Just out of interest, what is the advantage?
  3. Thanks for the above posts, really useful.
  4. Could be a busy week coming up then! Thanks for the advice, it's not something you immediately think about with the excitement of the kit arriving and trying to get cracking with things.
  5. This may seem like a stupid question! Our timber frame is currently going up and we have gone for an extra 50mm layer of PIR to external walls. This will then have service battens at 600mm centres. Does this work have to be completed before 1st fix electrics and plumbing starts? I'm trying to juggle start dates but keep the momentum going on the build. I've got posi joists throughout first floor so that can be worked on and internal walls are not an issue either.
  6. When fitting floor insulation is the added cost of 150mm Kingspan worth it when the saving using 150mm Celotex will be over a £1,000 for the same floor area?
  7. What option did you go for in the end? We have gone the Fleming route and been very happy with it.
  8. Our proposed PR is 3.4m x 1.7m. Interesting the different finishings people have opted for. Never heard of Fermacell so will now look at that.
  9. I think in Scotland alarms all have to be linked throughout dwelling. From what I understand this is also retrospective. I would expect England and Wales to follow. I think this is correct, someone might know more.
  10. We are planning putting in a log burner and will have MVHR installed. Am I right in thinking that it is important to have a double lined flue so that combustion air can be brought in via the flue?
