  1. The Salus actuators don't really care too much about flow rate, as they seem to be able to modulate over a pretty wide range. I've found that our UFH works a great deal better with a lower flow temperature than 33°C though. If I ran ours anywhere near that high it would be pretty uncontrollable. We run ours at a flow temperature of about 25°C to 26°C, and have found that this gives an overshoot of maybe 0.5°C. When we ran it at about 28°C the overshoot went up to about 1°C.

  2. Just taken a photo with the floor cooling running, which shows the flow temperature cooler than the return:

  3. I would be phoning around looking for a local joiner to come on board with you. He should have more experience of this sort of stuff and all the tools needed.

  4. The raised beds look to be in reasonable order. Have you seen the principles of square foot gardening? Really good to intensively crop a small area with a variety of produce.

  5. I have a tall 300l DHW cylinder. It has 2 direct electric immersion heaters and one heating (water) coil. The coil sits in the bottom half of the cylinder, that way the ASHP can heat the full tank. The ASHP thermostat sits about 1/3 up from the bottom of the tank. The upper immersion is just above the coil. The lower immersion is near the bottom of the tank. Hope that makes sense, I have a schematic someplace if not.

  7. Well, if they required FOI request and £10 I wouldn't mind. Again, was not asking them to confirm that I could build a specific outbuilding, just to say "yes, your house has PD", it shouldn't be a research but a DB check question. This way they basically force me to pay the full fee. It's quite surprising there is not a simple checkbox on a planning portal for this yes/no information. All that IT effort - and they don't really use it properly. In our case there was a full PP process so I'd hope they could make checks as a part of it.

  8. My scaffolders are here now finishing up and I suspect the TF team will be working through the next couple of weekends. The neighbours are nice enough though so I cant imagine they will get upset as it's only temporary! I guess a lot depends on how your neighbours are.
