  1. Oh the rates go to the Local Authority, the SAA is independent of the LA and its the Scottish Government that introduced the small business rates relief scheme. Not them this time that are guilty of grabbing our money:-)

  2. Here is a pic of our garden room with counter battens in place - if it helps, soon putting on the main battens at 90 deg to these. The roof build up is I-joists on 600mm centres, 11mm sarking (OSB), membrane, counter battens (25 x 50), tile battens 25 x 50 and then the tiles.

  3. i have been useing these for the odd shower screen i have to fit, supposedly they have a wax core that does the cooling, and contrary to what peter said they say to run them at full speed, which is what i do and have never had a problem, iv only ever bought one and it must have done 50+holes by now, just remember to start it slow with the edge ( at an angle) holding the drill tight so it doesnt skid about, once you are in about a mil or so, give it the beans and you will get a hole. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marcrist-6mm-Dry-Diamond-Tile-Drill-Bit-/112478177916?hash=item1a3038ca7c:g:IHEAAOSwsW9YwwUn

  5. Pulling up this thread again, I've just started waterproofing our wet rooms. We bought the AKW formers from a company called Hurlston on eBay. They were very good value and excellent quality. They are 22mm the same as the flooring. The floors we covered in 12mm marine ply so we cut the holes for the formers and re inforced underneath as per @Nickfromwales instructions and then filled these with the ply to bring them up to the same level as the finished floor, then I glued and screwed everything down. I was pretty concerned about doing all this we haven't done anything like it before. The tanking of the rooms has not been difficult, I just watched the YouTube videos and followed instructions. A bit of a messy job but very quick and easy. So really just wanted to reassure anyone considering doing this for the first time that it's a pretty straightforward job. I'm just hoping our tiler is happy with the result!
