dangti6 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Looking good. Any surprises due to the madness recently with material price increases or did you lock in the price?
Dan1983 Posted June 10, 2021 Author Posted June 10, 2021 Thank-you, No surprises yet, last main item on the list is roof slate. Awaiting clearance from national park from samples. Im going to email the supplier today to see what lead times are like. Price wise hopefully no changes apart from the tweaks we are making as we go.
Dan1983 Posted June 12, 2021 Author Posted June 12, 2021 Up to DPC, going to use a lighter mortar for the rest of it with either V or raked out joint to show off the edges off the brick work 1
Dan1983 Posted June 16, 2021 Author Posted June 16, 2021 Think we are going to stick with gas boiler set up for now after further thought. Concerned about the noise from the fan on the ASHP. Not really the overall dB but the pitch, think it would be unfair on the neighbours 1
Dan1983 Posted June 25, 2021 Author Posted June 25, 2021 Block working finally started after poor weather halted things on site. Not looking great next week either so progress maybe slow

Dan1983 Posted June 25, 2021 Author Posted June 25, 2021 Just frustrating weather for June. completion date probably more like January now 1
Dan1983 Posted June 25, 2021 Author Posted June 25, 2021 More progress! Really pleased with the brick choice and decision to go with a raked out mortar joint, hopefully mortar will dry light grey. Rooms looking a good size now walls are up. instagram photo download chrome 3
Dan1983 Posted June 29, 2021 Author Posted June 29, 2021 Ready for scaffold now to get to chamber joist level, been lucky with the weather this week as was showing rain all the way through but been mostly dry. Few days delay on the chamber joists due to availability I believe. Been and ordered a Charnwood burner today and planned the fire place so that’s all sorted and paid for. Bricks/ mortar dark in the pictures as looks like they had been washed down today. 2
Dan1983 Posted July 4, 2021 Author Posted July 4, 2021 Ready to go to next level now scaffolding is up, bricklayers back tomorrow. 1

HiDan i am glad your house is nearly getting ready. Could You share who is the new build builder you hired as we are looking to start build our home next year summer near to melksham so thought of asking and thought to take your experience as I am just started searching for my house.
Dan1983 Posted July 5, 2021 Author Posted July 5, 2021 Evening, No problem, we are using Silverwoods construction limited. They have a really good reputation locally and nothing is too much bother. Highly recommend so far

Have you got quotes after submitting building regulations or did you got any tweaked drawings from architect before it self for less price. Is the builder is referenced by any one or did you researched any other way
Dan1983 Posted July 5, 2021 Author Posted July 5, 2021 Got guide price before submitting regs as it’s a fairly basic build. Didn't want to waste money on regs if it was going to be way over budget. Only thing tweaked was garage size, was meant to be 7x6m internal but to stay in budget made it 7x6m external. Reference was from a lady at our sons school, they had completed 2 holiday let new builds. Also came recommended by a he local architect
