Bleach and treatment plant

We’ve looked for Somthing other than bleach to put down the loos

Can anyone recommend Somthing that won’t kill the bacteria in our treatment plant

Oxygen bleach aka sodium percarbonate maybe?

Ecover products are supposed to be tank safe - check them carefully in the shop though as I think one of them is only use sparingly.

Bit expensive maybe.   This stuff is a bit cheaper - but still expensive compared to beach. We're hoping to use it, and Ecover as @PeterW suggests.

someone did a test with bleach versus water and there was very little difference after the flush, give it a good clean and it'll be fine, save the money.

There are some pretty nasty acids in cola - this is what is in lime scale remover and most of the cheap toilet descalers.

Oh, glad I don’t drink it then ?, does it do a treatment plant any harm?

The main active ingredient is phosphoric acid.  It's very unlikely to do any harm to the treatment plant, mainly as the concentration would be pretty low.

 

Phosphoric acid is also the stuff used to convert ferric oxide into ferric phosphate, the black anti-corrosion coating seen on things like guns.
