Lavis Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Please could you give me your thoughts on this ‘local heroes’ handywork. Marks out of ten perhaps. 1
Onoff Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 -20. That's shite! A bit of brick acid might make it a bit more presentable.....or some black bitumen paint to cover it all up!
Vijay Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I saw a really fussy brickie using a piece of brick to rub off any bits of mortar on his laid bricks - worked a treat
Construction Channel Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Get the brick acid out and see how it looks, from what I can see now the joint to the bottom left is huge and you have a random vent in the middle. Other than that they look fairly level and straight so it might not be as bad as it looks, ( no it’s not how it should be laid but stuffy blues are a bitch at the best of times so if it was wet and a rush they may look like that before they have been cleaned up)
Mr Punter Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 It looks a bit high compared to the step up to floor level (220mm v 100mm?)
Declan52 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Brick acid and maybe a stiff brush and see what that looks like. Was there a air vent under the door cill?? What did he joint the bricks with, the handle of his shovel. 1
daiking Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 (edited) I’ve seen worse. ...hold my beer... Edited June 6, 2018 by daiking
Ferdinand Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) Not good. 2 from 10 That might be a bit more once cleaned. I would perhaps have wanted the vent round the side. Has he done wider joints to avoid making it a bit wider or cutting bricks or because you ran out of bricks and he was on the last day? One for the snagging list, depending on your relationship. Brick acid, yes. Or for a cover up what about slices of - thinner - paver? F Edited June 7, 2018 by Ferdinand
Brickie Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Last couple of jobs with Staff blues,I tried painting them with Linseed Oil immediately before laying. Comes up a treat, gets all over your gloves & tools though! 1
