Alexphd1
My sister in Staffordshire has just had a eye watering quote to repoint a brick house from a "specialist". ToughButterCup
Ok, here's the national guide price as cited in SPONS page 226 (What's that? Click here) Per meter squared Labour: 0.69 m sq per hour Labour cost: £18.25 per hour Materials cost : £1.30 per m sq Local variations to those guide costs will apply. £10 per brick replace is a strong indication that they don't want the work, or have a substance abuse habit.

Vijay
Not sure a tenner is too much to replace a brick, it can't be too far off 1/2 hours work??

Diamond rake in an angle grinder will zip a brick out in about 3-5 mins tops ( if they hail from this century ) ?

Hammering out each brick will break at least 3 silverline cold chisels.
Bob
Reclaimed bricks usually 70p to £1 sometimes a little more depending what they need to match and the local availability 20 per hour ish for labor. The structure may need scaffolding which again increases the cost, it is allot of hard work repointing. I would get a few quotes from local builders and see how they compare. 3 mins to cut a damaged brick out is bloody fast if your using a grinder or not. Once you’ve cut it out you need to replace it and point round all in all it’s hard work. Then you need leave a few hours at the end of the day to wash every car in the street as the grinder will cover everything in dust.

Nickfromwales
In case anyone is confusing a little grinder with some gi-bungous petrol building slayer....... A diamond mortar rake which fits in a hand held 4"grinder. ?
Brickie
Weather struck & cut -rake out & re-point £45-£60/m2. Those are the rates I see quoted on social media, varying by region. As for £10/brick,if supply & fit, prob about right. Yes,not long to rake joints out with grinder but cleaning all the old mortar out, damping down the dust, laying replacement brick, packing the top joint in,pointing & then brushing-as said, you wouldn’t see much change out of half an hour.

Spons is ok as a guide for a trade working for a company. But most would find it impractical running a business based on £18 an hour. Most of the larger companies are paying bricklays that don’t want price work about £18 an hour Extra for weekend work Holidays paid Just turn up with a bucket of tools £18 is pittance if you are trying to run a business
