SiBee Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Fusebox: designed by electricians for electricians. My local wholesaler had an event day when this stuff was introduced to their stock. No tradie complaints and it’s well thought of. Regarding a comment in an earlier post implying that housing association contracts are maintained with cheaper goods rather than quality. Not true in my neck of the woods (NW England) stock items and reliability are important. It can prove to be a false economy to use cheap crap. Not saying all cheap stuff is crap.
Mattg4321 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Nothing wrong with those mods imo. Fusebox is good stuff and a decent price. I use loads of it and have it in my own house. Money no object, Crabtree starbreaker is the best consumer unit (domestic) imo. Hager is also decent, but the slant on the breakers is no better than Fusebox (ie. Acceptable, but not perfect). Hager have just massively reduced RCBO prices, so obviously feeling the presence of Fusebox! Goes to show how much they were making before…

You have drilled holes in a gland plate in order to fit glands. That is what it is for. At least you have a removable gland plate to do that easily rather than having to drill the box directly. My only concern for something like FuseBox, is will they still be going and replacement parts available in 10 or 20 years? 1

Starbreaker. Some of the brands under the Schneider umbrella. I’m struggling after that. 1

Then made a new gland plate to get the density I wanted. I even sprayed it the correct RAL colour. 1

Not that I would admit to doing that. Expand Crabtree Starbreaker. Can still get accessories that fit a board installed by previous owners in 1995. Are approved by Electrium to accept their Loadstar range accessories too. Can hot swap MCBs as the plug-in busbar arrangement is finger-proof. OTOH Fusebox are the only ppl to make a cheap(-ish) Type F RCD suitable for Vaillant HPs (still 3 figures though).
