how much weight can i put in a skip?

Today ive been knocking down a decent sized brick wall and filled a 4 yard skip very neatly with all of the bricks. Then it dawned on me that maybe the skip wagon might not be able to lift it or the floor of the skip might give way, i did mention to them on the phone it was getting full of brick, Will the driver actually take it or do you think they will ask me to unload it?

This is the first skip ive ever had.

when i phoned them to enquire they asked what was going in it, So i said 'just bricks' and she replied £200 cash so i jumped on it and didn't think to ask about weight etc.. as the other place round here said £235 +VAT 😆

In my area I can get a grab wagon for £140 to take away a full load of clean hardcore. If you have more to do it may be worth looking into.

I just got half a dozen Trick or Treaters in one.

Just about to top is up with soil.

All my clean rubble went via a grab loader lorry 2000m away to another build in the village.

It was loaded to the sky !!!!

I've had 3 grab lorries this year already and couldn't face the carnage. I didn't think to phone them and ask how much they would pay me for it all 😁.

 

If it does a wheelie, or the bottom falls out i will post pictures.

I once had a skip lorry wheelie, several of us hanging on the bumper, it was full of wet soil/clay, reason really was anti tip wheels (those behind the rear tyres) sunk in soft ground (wish I had taken a photo) managed to find a couple of sleepers under them to get it away.

I had a concrete lorry as a garden ornament for a few hours - I'm sure I've got a picture - driver backed it into the garden to shoot a load of concrete into the footings - when it came to driving out he gave it all the beans and as a result dug himself a bit of a hole

 

Ended up pulling it out with chains attached to another concrete lorry

4 yard skip will be no problem. I filled a 10 yard in much the same way a couple of years ago. Very neatly loaded! The skip lorry did struggle a little!

 

Edit. Unless it’s one of those silly transit cab/sized ones. If so please film it!

I have seen skip lorries lifting their front wheels, and if they really can't lift the skip, I have seen them attach just 2 chains, tip the skip up and tip part of the contents out and try again.

Success!   Had that with a skip full of carefully stacked roof cladding. The driver said he shouldn't take it if it is that heavy, but did.

The skips of mixed waste that are taken to a sorting depot turn  the value of the air gaps into money.

My local skip company virtually pay you for Rubble/concrete. 

 

Last 4 yard I filled 3/4 with concrete roof tiles and topped up with demolished concrete block wall cost me £35

 

Didn't seem to have any issues picking it up.

I wish we had such cheap skips around here! £280+vat for 6yard a few weeks ago. Loaded up with old broken concrete blocks, stone, old roof tiles etc. Twice had smaller lorries come and pick it up, drive down the road then come and drop it off complaining of being 1.5T over weight!

If it will absolutely be only hardcore friendly materials then shop round for those who acknowledge it, and price accordingly.
