Gone West Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Perhaps someone can tell me, is the silver coloured circular component to the right of the picture anything other than just a way of joining three pipes together before connecting to the pump? TIA
MikeSharp01 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 That's an odd one - is it four pipes, the one at the back looks like it might be going somewhere close?

No, it's three pipes going in, two on the flat end and one on the curved surface. There's one pipe out on the opposite flat suface to the pump.
Alan Ambrose Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Some kind of zone diverter valve maybe? Like: https://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-27901sx-3-port-motorised-valve-22mm-22mm-compression/7091G

Alan Ambrose Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Yeah, if it doesn't have any power, probably not. Would help to know where the connections go...
Gone West Posted August 31, 2023 Author Posted August 31, 2023 4 minutes ago, Alan Ambrose said: Would help to know where the connections go... Yeah, it would. It's a right pigs dinner of a setup with bits added at various times by the look of it. When we get a new boiler, or A2A, it will all be replaced. There are hot water pipes that zigzag along the utility room wall, all the pipes uninsulated.
Huckleberrys Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 It is an air separator. Cold feed and vent connect in to it...Flow or return go through. 1 1

Big Jimbo Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 looks like an illegal distillery set up to me. 2
PeterW Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Air separator probably piped up with a cold feed and a vent pipe - will be a gravity system no doubt that has been converted in the past and prone to sucking in air. 1
