A quick one, what's the name of this type of gable, where it extends above the tile line and is generally capped in stone ?

I've never come across a particular word for them in the South - I'd just talk about a parapet gable / gable parapet.

I call ours a pain in the arse. Been on and off a couple of times to fix leaking into the cavity wall. And waste huge amounts of lead.

Yep. Been there, done that. Leaked into the cavity from day One.
