Towel radiators in Ensuite with UFH?

Have you got them on separate zones from the other rooms? If not you will want some heat in bathrooms when not needed in the rest of the house. As well as comfort, a bit of heat is needed to reduce condensation… and keep towels warm

Our UFH is ground floor only, so we put electric UFH and electric towel rails in the upstairs bathrooms.  The electric UFH is set to 19 and has only occasionally come on at night during the really cold spells. The towel rails haven't been on at all - so probably and expensive option - but they do look nice....

Yes all rooms will have their own thermostats and this will be zoned so if I want heating on in a bedroom, it would come on in the ensuite too

Our main bathroom and en-suite are the only upstairs rooms with any heating, wet UFH, more so the tiles don't feel cold than because the rooms actually need much heat.

But the main bathroom has an electrically heated towel rail.  Mainly because daughter wants to be able to pick up nice warm towels off the rail at the end of the shower.

Me personally I file that away as "gross waste of energy" but I am outvoted.

Hi All,

On a property with full floor UFH, would you install towel radiators in the ensuites?

Thanks

C

Our bathrooms are on their own ufh zone and we have towel rads. Not had the towel rads on last few winters and nobody complained.

We have mvhr so towels dry fairly quick

I would split bathrooms off - even en-suite ones - as you may not want heating in bedrooms late spring / early autumn but still want to dry out bathroom floors and reduce any condensation.

Likewise and works fine although the install is using a time switch and a floor probe set to 28°C to control temperature. With hindsight I would also install either a duct or an encased one wire probe in the bathroom floors in future as NTC thermal probes are fairly poor in comparison.
