What building regs apply to a wooden garage,?

Yes building regs mean it will not fall down (structural ) and planning means it looks acceptable.

 

my slab (advised by our residential SE) was a 9” slab with steel mesh embedded in it. I was lucky that the ground had already been a parking space with tons of compacted stone etc (just had to remove the gravel off the top.) others here will advise on depth etc of hardcore etc.

That is warehouse spec. I'd say use that as perimeter as it has the building on it, but can reduce the middle to 6".

I'd also like to have the walls overhanging the slab.

I agree mate but the SE said otherwise. 🤷‍♂️ Yes my slab was 100mm bigger on three sides and 400mm (with slope) on the front.

Are you able to give a rough idea of total cost in building the garage?  I think it looks great.

i didn’t want their garage door, I forget how much they deducted to leave it out and I bought this up and over period door from a national door company.
