Ralph Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I'm looking for something to pull broom and saplings. I've seen weed wrenches in the US and Canada but can't find anything here. I know there are weed pullers you can get from Fiskar but those like they're for dandelions etc. Anyone seen anything like this here?
Radian Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Damn I need one of those! Got a sycamore that's seeded right next to an ornamental tree and its got its roots down. Was thinking about making something using mole grips bolted onto angle iron.

markc Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Very easy to knock up something similar to the post puller using 2 bits of timber and a piece of rope or small chain for wrapping around saplings. 1
Dave Jones Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 (edited) all you need is a spare wheel and length of rope. tie rope to base of sapling run rope over the wheel and pull! The force multiplier is quite amazing, even get old fence posts out using it. Edited February 4, 2023 by Dave Jones 1
Ralph Posted February 5, 2023 Author Posted February 5, 2023 I've looked at the post pullers which would work for few but I have 100s of broom plants to come out. I have found this online which might be a bit flimsy but I'll give it a go.
DavidFrancis Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Our local wildlife trust uses these "tree poppers", but don't know where they get them from. I've used them a fair bit and they work well on saplings
