Your googling skills are required: Can you help me find a particular light switch please

I'm trying to find light switch that meets the following requirements:

  • matt black
  • screwless
  • curved corners
  • architrave size
  • retractive toggle switch.

It can be be a dolly or rocker switch but it must be a retractive one of the on/off variety, like a door bell.

Effectively, I need a matt black version of this: https://www.corston.com/products/1g-architrave-retractive-toggle-switch-bronze

I've been looking for 45 minutes and still can't find one, but I know that @SteamyTea, @Onoff,  @PeterW or someone else have much better skills than me!

Got any Australian or Kiwi mates? Or any mates at all even...😃

Clipsal and Legrand do them there. Both companies are owned by Schneider

Google "clipsal black architrave".

I've some Clipsal stuff here actually. It's alright.

I could 3D print you a cover in matt black to clip over a screwed one.....

MK?

As far as I can tell, I would need to get a retractive module from the MK Electric Grid Plus Grid System and then fit it in a front plate. Although they do black modules, their front plates are only white or silver and not in architrave size:  https://www.discount-electrical.co.uk/section.php/110463/1/mk-electric-grid-plus-grid-system

What's the difference between a retractive and a momentary switch? Is it like a three position switch sprung loaded to the centre?

In the past I've purchased blank plates and made combinations that don't eexist. Things like speaker terminals or combination of TV, Network and Speaker.

Perhaps try Farnel for a panel mounted switch?

I don't think there is a difference.

Retractive switches come in two types, a one way or a two way. I need a one way, which is in off mode by default and can be pressed momentarily to on, but retracts to off as soon as depressed.

A two way is in off, but can be pressed on in either of two directions. A two way is what you would use for a blind for example.

Had a look at the Farnel website. It's impenetrable.

I normally pride myself on being able to find pretty much anything on the internet.

But this has to be one of the most specific requests I have ever seen. "Curved corners" particularly made me laugh.

My wife would present me with things she saw online and ask to get them in the house. Nearly always they were from the USA and not available here. Often it was just a picture with no information.

Sometimes you just have to say that it doesn't exist.

It sounds like it is a one off switch that doesn't have to match anything else. What's wrong with the black nickel one?

I found this one, but they don't do an architrave plate to put it into.

If you don't need a toggle switch then there are plenty of options as above.

That would work for a specific item.

I would get things like, I like the look of this bathroom in Pinterest, can we do the same.

I can't believe how many things people put on Pinterest with no information re the products. One of the points of the site is to sell products and services.

Or it's an American design, so you need to buy the stuff from Home Depot etc.

These were the only two in stock at Farnel...

Rocker.. 4A

https://uk.farnell.com/marquardt/01834-3402-00/rocker-switch-dpdt-4a-250vac-black/dp/2835993

Toggle.. 5A but too expensive?

https://uk.farnell.com/idec/lb1t-33t6/toggle-switch-dpdt-5a-250vac-panel/dp/2833320

RS Components has these. I think (ON) in brackets means momentary. So ON-(ON) is a double throw spring loaded one way. Think that does what you want but best double check.

Check Dimensions?
