Double or triple glazing

Hi

Just wondered if someone could advise on whether or not you would notice the difference if you had triple as opposed to double glazing. In 2 rooms on our rennovation, we have a window which is 2m wide by 1.45m high. It will be a fixed aluminium pane. The U value for double glazing is 1.6 on the entire unit and 1.4 for triple glazing. Can someone tell me if having triple glazing would be noticeably warmer/save on fuel bills. The incremental cost is around £600.

Thanks

Kind regards

Sui

So do you think it isn't really worth triple if only 1.4?

Not with the supplier your using. To get 1.4 with that system is shocking. It means the frame profile is rank rotten and not worth the money.

A decent double glazed unit will give you 1.2.

My guess is the window supplier to fitting triple glazing into a poor quality cheap frame designed for double glazing which is common among cowboys.

If you've a frame designed for double glazing with say 8mm glass, 16mm cavity and 8mm glass that's at total of 32mm thick glazing.

They could be putting 6mm glass, 8mm cavity, 4mm glass, 8mm cavity and 6mm glass which is also 32mm thick in total. You'll only get a minor improvement as the cavity's are small and the frame the same however as it's now triple glazed he can charge a lot more and you think it's a lot better. A real triple glazed window in a frame designed for triple glazing will get you a u-value of around 1 or lower as other above have said.
