Hi all,

need to replace ours & our Aeg model is proving unbelievably hard to locate the part for-does anyone have a secret golden website they know of to order from?

Cheers,

Stinky Brickie (till it's fixed)

The chances are it's a standard bearing, so with luck you may be able to get one from someone like Bearing Boys: https://www.bearingboys.co.uk/ (no affiliation, but they've always provided great service when I've used them).  Usually the bearing will have the size code marked on it, together with the code for the type of shield/seal.  For example, sat on my desk in front of me I have a box of 6000-2Z bearings, which are 26mm OD, 10mm ID, 8mm thick, with double shields.  If you can read a number like this on the bearing face, then with luck you may be able to find a replacement fairly easily.

When I tried to renew ours about 9 months ago I bought the bearings off the internet, spent about 3 hours to get the drum out of the machine, and then about another hour to knock the bearing out. I then found they'd sent me the wrong bearing.

At that point I lost the will to live, skipped the lot, and went to Curry's.

I gave up repairing domestic appliances as its just a pita. Strip them and repair one thing, then another goes. A day off work and a headache? I'd rather give the £300.

??

I hear you mate but it's a £600 machine (washer/drier) so I can't let it go without a fight :))

You need another number as above:

I've tended to use espares myself, others favour Ransom Spares:

Only just woke up at 8.50-living the dream!

Had a look myself & also can't see it,nor anywhere else. Puzzling-could it be the design is such that the bearings alone can't be replaced? I'll have a look at the online manual when the two Fun Size People in my life will allow it.

@Brickie you're making us work for this one! :)

Straight from the AEG site but I think the same parts list as I already posted:

http://shop.aeg.co.uk/search?pffv=0&ppc=8&psf=4&prpp=20&ssv=91460560500&psfo=A&ppn=2

@PeterW is bang on that bearings might come part and parcel of the spider - even though the bearing inside is bog standard. Had similar with the Bosch d'washer. Said the element was part and parcel of the instantaneous water heater and I'd have to replace the whole thing at about £150. Managed to replace  just the element at a fraction of the cost.

Honestly UK Whitegoods forum is the place if really stuck.
