Onoff
Hoping I haven't bought a pup...found this for £45 "incomplete": https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184864388736? Been after one of these 36V Einhell Agillo brush cutters for a while now, to run off off Makita batteries with 3D printed adapters like I do the 36V Einhell chainsaw (brilliant). Just missed out on them at £96, bare, on clearance at Machine Mart. Fingers crossed this doesn't get consigned to the "that wasn't the bargain I thought it was" box. ProDave
So is that the latest way to get free spare parts? You buy a complete item from Amazon, remove the bits you want and return the incomplete item for a refund?

Onoff
I'm hoping I can convert a spare "cross piece" from my home made pipe decoiler to a 4 blade thicket knife: It's 3mm stainless with a 22mm hole in the centre. I might have to reduce the diameter then grind sharpened edges on. Be interesting if I can get the balance right... The original is 3 blades, 4mm thick... https://www.einhell.fr/shop/en-fr/thicket-knife-255.html Edited June 2, 2021 by Onoff
ProDave
I hate brush cutter blades, lethal things, don't go ANYWHERE near a wire fence with them. Just get a nylon line strimmer head for it. That cuts everything I want it to and does not get so bothered about the wire fence lurking amid the long grass.

I bought a cheapo used petrol one a while back and it came with a flail chain attachment. Used it once and never again. The speed that it could fire small stones was unbelievable. Cover the postage and I will send you a spare brand new blade that I have for free.
markc
OMG, use a proper blade, a brush cutter blade has (should have) been designed to limit the amount of grab.

Do you think it would work as this is what the proper thicket knife for the machine looks like?
joe90
I have one of those three bladed cutters and as @ProDave says don’t go anywhere near a fence with it, they can be lethal. The one @Roys offered has limited cutting depth so won’t “bite off more than it can chew”.
markc
Disc design is much better to use, slower on grass but faster on woody stemmed vegetation
dpmiller
we went to a square section nylon filament and it's incredible! So much nastier than the ordinary round stuff, even half inch brambles are dealt with very easily. Seems to last longer too...

Onoff
I could be wrong but the one @Roys has kindly offered has maybe a 14mm bore. I think the Einhell one is 25.4mm?

ProDave
@Onoff How long do you expect this battery strimmer to run for on a charge? will it be long enough? I strimmered the whole of our property last weekend, first time this year and it took about 2 hours and 2 tanks of fuel in the petrol strimmer. I would be mighty impressed indeed if you had enough spare batteries lined up already charged to match that length of running.

Tbh it's just for isolated overgrown patches, under the trampolines, around the tree house etc.

It's hydroscopic and dries out over time, increasing the moisture content will make it less prone to breaking.
Onoff
The"returns" brush cutter turned up. It appears to have seen light use but oddly comes complete with the blade, strimmer head and box spanner, something I didn't expect from reading the ad... Of course I've yet to power it up and see what happens...if anything. The one thing that is missing is the body harness/strap to support it as you use it (surprisingly heavy). Pretty certain I can do something with a spare, out of date full body harness, some D shackles and karabiners etc. Just waiting for the Makita batteries to charge up. Best I go find the chainsaw and see if the battery adapters fit! @Roys looks like I have blade after all. Will still happily take that other one off your hands though! ? Onoff
OfWoof, woof! ? So far it appears to be a pup! Putting the batteries on and nothing so in we go... The blade locking plastic thing is well worn. It works OK to put a blade on but won't pick properly to take one off. I guess 3D print one or make from ali/steel. It's clearly seen some use. Strip down / meter time. Motor is stamped "64-25DC36V" All the jammed vegetation removed from the head around the motor...tbh it didn't stop it turning. Tried again, nowt. Onoff
Laugh! ? Could be a bit more straightforward than I thought...although the battery adapters appear to slide in fine..... THE CONTACTS DON'T REACH! ??? It only slides about this far: Subtle differences between the chainsaw and brush cutter where the battery connects. Brush cutter top, chain saw bottom: So... Enough for tonight, ? o'clock.
