We said exactly the same thing. The chickens quite liked it too so potential chicken coop if we run out of wood.

I won’t show you mine (wood store that is ?) made from old pallets and left over roofing from my garage (and it’s hid round the back so you can’t see it ).

I think pallets would have worked fine too and probably cheaper! I'm sure I'll be thankful it's close by our utility door in winter!

We have too much, still got another 3 tonne bags plus stuff we need to split. Some is quite small so we may be burning it on the narrowboat in winter.

Did he buy the lengths of steel "mill finish", weld them together then get the whole assembly galvanised at a place that specialises in hot dip galvanising? 

 

Did he weld on plain finish mesh and send the whole lot to the galvanisers or did he get the galv frame back etc?

So they need to be used to build a woodstore like @joe90's from them to keep the other wood in.

Then why don't the builders merchants offer to collect them for free and re use them?

 

I thought so, not worth the cost.

Oh go on then, includes compost heap as well (the steel mesh is to stop my terrier pulling logs out to get to mice/rats in the log pile)

The mesh was bought already galvanised then cut to size. The steel frame were second hand fence post again ready galvanised with fence brackets on (took 6 posts with off cuts left over). Dad made it all up and welded up in situ then just silver can car spray on weld joints, mesh screw on inside frame to secure, then all bolted in and fixed.

Gotcha! It did look "sprayed" around the plates etc. Würth Zinc Light is an excellent "silver" cold galvanising paint.  For a darker zinc then their Zinc Dark. 

 

The term "cold galvanising" is a bit misleading tbh - they all come in a can but some are better than others. Zinga is very good. Galvafroid is the old favourite.
