epsilonGreedy
If I take delivery of some new scaffolding boards, cut them in half and fit some metal end bands to the just cut ends will they be as good as new?
joe90
I don’t see why not!. I bought a load of scaffold boards fir my build (going to use them to build raised beds for veg after the build is finished) and cut various ones to length fir particular jobs (and didn’t put metal bands on the ends ?). They will be half the length. The metal bands are normally stamped with the "support every X metres" rating. I have cut down a few Cuplock boards by about an inch to make them fit Kwikstage. Russell griffiths
They will only be half as good.

I was going to order 4 standard length (3.9m) boards and 4 shorter boards for laying internal wall courses in smaller rooms. Delivery costs from a national supplier seemed to negate the price discount compared to a local BM with free delivery. However local BMs only supply standard 3.9m boards hence the proposal to order 6 standard boards and cut two in half. I hope the cut ends will not fragment prematurely particularly if I buy some board end metal bands and nail them in.
Russell griffiths
Your best bet is to look on e bay, facebook, look out for a job lot of bandstands and boards from someone local who has just completed a project, I picked up 6 bandstands and 10 boards for less money than just the 10 boards. JFDIY
Paint the ends to stop them drying out so much. They're not treated so the cut end will be no different.
