CC45
I've finally got sick of groping for the light switch in our garage - so I thought I'd put a switch on the door and connect that up to a small led - like a plinth light, that would shine down from the ceiling illuminating the switch when the door is opened. Not keen on buying a pack of 10 + 1 extra transformer just to use 2 lights (got 2 switches to illuminate) so has anyone got a different solution? cheers. cc
Carrerahill
Buy a LED bulkhead like this: https://asdlighting.com/products/centro-range/centro-circo/ or https://asdlighting.com/products/clarity-range/clarity-portrait-plain/ Get the model with built in presence detection, they consume less than 16/8W depending on model - walk into garage this product comes on, probably bright enough for simple tasks or getting something out of garage, set it to run for a minute or something or even less when no motion is detected - job done. Onoff
How about a solar power one where the panel and lamp are separate? This sort of thing. Mount panel outside and light inside: https://www.wish.com/m/c/5d79c1b6c6c19574ffe28255?
Mr Punter
I have LED strips and they run off a rechargeable Makita 18V battery stepped down to 12V via a buck converter. Lovely and bright.

Temp
Someone just make a switch with a neon built in?
Temp
Yes of course they do. Perhaps rewire one of these so the neon is always on.... https://www.google.com/search?q=light+switch+with+neon+indicator&oq=light+switch+with+neon&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l3.10671j0j8&client=tablet-android-pega&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#scso=_lIzxXa7wDsif1fAP0vqCgAc64:0.5.5.5&sbfbu=0&pi=light switch with neon indicator
JFDIY
Click Grid do a neon module to put next to your switches in the same faceplate. On my garage that only has access from the outside, I have external pir operated outside lights with a bulkhead light above the internal light switches, so when you approach in the dark the inside is partly illuminated on arrival. Also you can tell from inside when the outside lights have been activated. Edited December 12, 2019 by JFDIY

AliG
Instead of putting a switch on the door why don't you just wire a PIR between the lights and the switch, leave the switch on and the lights will go off and on automatically when you go into the garage.
