Russell griffiths Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Could you tell me @MikeSharp01 @andyscotland Who you have gone with for windows if you are bringing them in from overseas. Cheers.

Cheers. I’m told that the majority of Ali-clad windows are made overseas. I suspect a lot of the PVC profiles are also imported and then glued together here. Glad to say I’m about 50% complete in my self Build, so the Plutocrats won’t be getting much more of my money.

Just bought our cladding from ProWood in Wigan . We've bought Siberian larch; in the context above, the exchange rate was mentioned as the most important issue.
K78 Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Awful time to be buying anything imported. I honestly think the EU will buckle on the backstop issue before Halloween. The Irish economy would crash and without us, Europe will struggle to pay the bill. Boris and Trump have really put pressure on them.

Russell griffiths Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 Bit confused here @MikeSharp01 are you buying from a uk dealer, or direct from overseas. If from a uk dealer do you not have a fixed price regardless of if the world ends.

Won't they just say they cannot supply at the price? They could just refund any advance, or go bust. There may be cheap windows to be picked up at bankrupcy auctions. As windows seem to give so much trouble, should they not be made second, after the foundation, then build the walls around them?
