A company in coleraine called feneco.

Its ok, dont need to worry about this. I told the company that when the time comes, we would adjust the sceed to leave room for the tiles to fit.

I have just got the windows in my new build measured up. We have a sliding door window so the window company has asked us our finished floor height just so it can be installed level which the finished floor. I am able to tell them the amount of screed and insulation but they have asked for the the depth of the adhesive and the tiles we are going to be installing. i havnt even looked at tiles so have no idea yet. is there a standardish depth i can give them or is there a great variance in tile depth? Any help is much appreciated. cheers.

Can anyone here recommend a good company to hire out scaffolding here in NI (we’re based between Antrim and Ballymena 2 storey house and storey and a half garage) Had a family friend who was willing to lend us some, but that hasn’t worked out. And now we’re just about ready for scaffolding and need to get some hired, or bought. Probably hired as I believe it is hard to get a hold of it to buy (second hand) this time of year but would consider either option. I am going to use Google to find a few companies but thought I’d check if anyone had any recommendations first. Thanks

I’m in a similar position to yourself vfrDave. Been torn between ASHP, GSHP and oil (based in NI) Disregarded the GSHP due to initial expense and added expense of having to replace the antifreeze. So made a pro and con list for system oil boiler and ASHP. I have no experience so I wouldn’t take this as 100% correct. Anyone, feel free to point out my inaccuracies. OIL system boiler PRO -Can be serviced and all plumbers -Not unusual for a system oil boiler to last 30+ years. -If heating is required upstairs, standard sized radiators can be used upstairs -Can probably get away with a smaller UVC/TS as the water could be stored at a higher temperature. -If anything does go wrong, it is easy to get parts NEG -Oil can get stole especially if living in the country and out at work during the day -Oil is and will continue to go up in price -Need to order oil in advance (need to keep an eye on it that you’re not running out) -Potential for overheating in summer from UVC/TS ASHP PRO -potentially better for the environment (based on how your electricity is produced) -No need to order fuel. -Potential to install a monobloc yourself (personally don’t know that I could myself though) -Less likely for things to go wrong? -works well with UFH NEG -If heating is required upstairs, larger radiators may be needed upstairs. -Less common for plumbers to have experience with servicing/ setting up (possibly more expensive to set up) -I’m not sure that they will last as long as an oil boiler? -less efficient in colder weather when they will actually be needed. -Quoted COPs are usually a bit lower than real usage (defrost cycles) -efficiency decreases when heating water over 40 degrees. I have been thinking of and oil system boiler and a TS (I’m also planning on PV) but after looking at my list I am as confused as ever. Be interesting to see what you decide.

Required head clearance for insulated roller garage doors?
JamieM replied to JamieM's topic in New House & Self Build Design
Cheers, we did consider doing the one garage door but bigger but it is too late for that now. You win some, you lose some. To be honest, I can't see us using it that much for the car, just in winter when it's real cold. (I want a pool table in there but she'll never let me) -
Hi Our plans have 2.55m high insulated roller doors but we are thinking of lowering that slightly to allow for insulated roller doors . Lowering to maybe 2.4m or so has been suggested by the brickie. I've googled it and it seems around 300mm clearance head room should be enough room for the roller doors but just checking if anyone here has any advice? Although we would like the insulated roller doors , it'll probably be one of the 1st things we don't use if(when) money becomes tight at the end of the build but we'd still like to have it as an option at this stage. Thanks And it's a block built house if that makes a difference. Also, if this is in the wrong area if the forum, feel free to move it.

Nice site, looks quite private too. You're probably not looking for any suggestions but have you considered making the dinning/kitchen open plan? Or even just a double door between the two? Also if it were me, I'd change the W.C. to a closet or a walk in wardrobe for bedroom 1 and just have the one main bathroom on the 1st floor. I'm just not a fan of the Jack and Jill bathrooms like you have in your plans (but maybe I'm just odd).

Hey stones did you get your formal quote yet?

Log burner stove for large open plan room but MVHR
JamieM replied to readiescards's topic in Stoves, Fires & Fireplaces
when I talked to the guys in NI, they were around £950 and £1100 for the two 5KW models we looked at. Although all the extras added around £1500 including labour and delivery (though half of that price was the 8m of steel flu) -
Log burner stove for large open plan room but MVHR
JamieM replied to readiescards's topic in Stoves, Fires & Fireplaces
I have been considering this one when the time comes to get a stove. They do have a more traditional look. http://www.clearviewstoves.com/stove-details/solution-400 don't know if anyone has any experiences with them? though they might be in the dearer side of the market. -
cheers. Yes, I've heard issues with cracking with other renders. I'm still at the 'type of render' decision stage but I'll have to look into it to see if it works with block and to check if its available in NI. thanks again

Do you know if there is much of a price difference in the Baumit.com render system and the likes of weber? thanks

A further question - any recommendations on whether to buy scaffolding or rent it out? I was just thinking of renting it out (a joiner we were getting a quote off told us he would charge around £25-30 a week plus a charge to erect it) It's for a 2 storey house (2500sqft) I’d just be a bit nervous about buying my own in case there ever was an accident and my insurance wouldn’t cover it. Just checking to see if that is around the normal price? I will have to get other quotes.

You mentioned you were 'having issues sourcing scaffolding but finally have that issue resolved' - did you buy it or rent it? just trying to decide whether to buy or rent it for my build.

Alright, would anyone have any suggestions/experience with flat roof installers/suppliers in NI. Thinking of Fibreglass GRP but happy to take on any recommendations. It’s for a ground floor sun room. I know some people aren’t too keen of flat roofs due to the fact they can leak, but there is a window on the 1st floor behind it that we couldn’t have the window if it were a pitched roof. thanks

I don't think it is 50Mb (megabytes) (I could be wrong here). I think it's 50mb (megabits). So just over 6Mb.
