  1. Thanks for the replies, I have been looking at some of the fans that say they can do longer ducting. I’ve seen the dmev’s which would do the job, but they run continuously and I’m worried that the lots of heat from the rooms will be lost? James
  2. Looking for some advice on the best way of extracting the kitchen and utility. We’re having a recirculating hob, and would like to duct it out to the garage gable and have minimal holes on show. Can this share a duct? James
  3. Thanks, I’ll check and if there are any issues I’ll not bother. I never really thought about it until looking at-some low level lighting for the hallways and just thought it would look better. Regards. James
  4. Yeah, sorry if I worded it incorrectly, like you say just the opening so it’s the same width, just think it will look better. Regards. James
  5. Couple of pics to show my issue, I have a hallway that is going to be open each end ( no doors). one end is narrower than the other and I don’t think it looks right. Do you think I’d have any issues if I prop up joists and add bigger lintel and cut blocks flush with other side? Regards. James
  6. Just a quick question, I’m going to speak to technical today. I don’t think there will be a compatibility issue but better safe than sorry. should I change the 4flexi pipes too as there in the box with new pump and if so what will I need to do to stop water flow as they have the isolators in? Willi need to add owt to threads? Regards. James
  7. That’s not a bad idea, I’ve been looking and found one reduced on tool station, so I think I’ll get it(only two left so don’t won’t to miss out)and prior to fitting I’ll speak to technical for some advice. Regards. James
  8. Have been looking at this one and yeah hope it will fit but if any issues hopefully they would take it back, there not usually to bad. I’ll see them tomorrow and ask for some money to get it. regards. James And pipes not lagged I’m not even going to go there, loft is a maze with pipes and wasps, so I only go in there if a have to.
  9. @ProDave How’s your glass set up, do you have a piece running along the 1200 length of tray ? Do you have a overhead soaker too? Regards. James
  10. I’ll speak to them and let them know there is a leak sensor that can be fitted, maybe should of had one fitted first of all, would of saved the kitchen ceiling. Regards. James
  11. Looking at the impey aqua dec 2 900x1200 with the shower glass along the 1200mm side. I like the style and quality, but I’m a little concerned about water leaving the former area and just sitting on the flat tiled area. Could go bigger but don’t like other ranges as the linear drain would run along opposite wall and look strange. Can anyone recommend any very reliable formers with linear drains to sit on braced and boarded out posi joist? James
  12. Thanks for the replies, it’s leaking from the seal, was just a little worried about buying a replacement and it not fitting. they still do Stuart turner pumps but there are so many to choose from and I’d hate to help them out and get it wrong. I like the idea of putting it in something to catch any leaks with a leak alarm. Would this be a retro fit or do they come built in ? Regards. James
  13. The grandparents have this pump in the loft and it’s leaking, it’s been in about to three years now and not under warranty. They have had the people who originally fitted the pump and they say that this pump is now obsolete it there are alternatives. She spoke to them today and they have told her mid March and will cost £193.( I’ve seen a few on Screwfix 1.5 bar) Would it be easy enough to replace myself? At the moment I have tuned both inlet isolators and switched it off at the spur. I think they have an vented system and this pump feeds hot and cold supply to a single bathroom . Regards. James
  14. We’ve been doing ours over three years now and have done quite a lot ourselves with some great advice from the very friendly and experienced people on here. I think a lot of it will depend on your circumstances, what sort of time you can put in and do you have somewhere cheap to stay as it’s going to take you a lot longer to build. But when you do finally move in the satisfaction and money you will of saved will be priceless. regards. James
  15. If there the polymer ones they will interlock, I would of probably wanted a good silicone to seal each joint. and connected to a rain water drain to take any surface water away. James
  16. Think I understand now, thanks for your help. James
  17. @JohnMo will you be tackling this task yourself, will you be putting any rebar in to strengthen slab or is this not necessary? James
  18. Outside will be some sort of loose stone for driveway so not sure if this will determine how best to bridge the gap. The slab will be about 4" thick i'm not sure if this will require anything to strengthen concrete or not. James
  19. Re build and claim vat back on most materials? James
  20. The house is fairly well insulated with B&B floor, the depth we have to ff level we are only able to fit 110mm pir in plus 55mm liquid screed. and when I say smart I mean app controlled trv’s.
  21. Looking to pour our garage slab and this is what we’ve been left with. What Is the usual method to bridge this gap? james
  22. Due to start first fix plumbing soon, I’m having a 32kw system boiler & 300L UVC. UFH downstairs and radiators upstairs controlled by smart trv’s. In my quote from wunda they have included smarthub v3 with smart thermostats and probes. Im looking for any advice and recommendations on which system does the best job and is most user friendly when it comes to control DHW, UFH and smart trv’s. will I need a thermostat with probe in each zone to control the UFH by an app? James
  23. Finally got him to change the wire, took some persuading but now have 4mm to cookers and 6mm to hob. I feel more at ease now that's sorted, thanks for everyone's help and advice. Regards James
  24. We are hoping to have something similar to this or 4 ovens, this is why we a little concerned with 2.5mm radial. Regards. James
  25. Oh didn’t realise just got details from here, says x pure at top of page. https://www.bora.com/gb/gb/cooktop-extractor-systems/bora-x-pure/product/puxa/ so we will keep the 6mm he’s running to hob and ask him to change the cookers cable to 4mm. he has done all calculations and seem very knowledgeable, I don’t like questioning him but I just thought the cookers wire was to small.I’ll just say I want to future proof. Regards. James
