  1. Ok . So spray both bits . Wait . See corrosion disappear. Plug it back together and it’s all good . If that works - it’s (expletive deleted)ing magic !
  2. Are you suggesting I can just spray my rj45 and the recipient housing with this ? . Let it dry and that’s it ????
  3. I always shake mine
  4. Waterproof junction box and gel crimps ordered . Will report success or failure soon !
  5. My external cameras that are mounted literally on the house have their connector behind the cladding . Too date ( nearly 3 years ) no issues . Any connector / sleeve exposed to weather though always seems to perish .
  6. I did think your suggestion was rather tongue in cheek but tbh it would be easier to maintain if a wire failed at a later date . None of these rj45 “ waterproof” sleeves seem good enough - always fail relatively soon I.e in under a year . So I’m going to try this gel crimp solution . First though I need to find a box to put the cables and crimps in . Needs to be bomb proof and water proof . A tug on a cable will easily break those frail cat wires .
  7. Yep . And of course all parts and labour should it fail
  8. I’m not sure the gel crimps will work . Cat5 is long enough but camera lead is very short . By the time I cut it and expose the cables any junction box is going to be very near to the camera … I.e exposed and difficult to mount . If camera lead was longer probably not an issue …
  9. You learn something every day - except in bed ; where I am the master
  10. Who knows . It’s a nice ‘media’ story though
  11. Guessing I'll still need to box all these jelly crimps though?; otherwise cables all exposed.
  12. Yeah I did that after I responded . Gel crimps new one on me . So I gel crimp each individual cable wire in the cable ?
  13. Gel crimps ?????
  14. Had a bloody outdoor ptz fail also ! . Not the cat5 - the focus ! . Can here it grinding but not actually adjusting
  15. Got this outdoor camera on poe . Been fine . Today died . The water protection cover seems ok . But on the connector and in the camera connector can see black ( due to moisture ? ) . Best way to clean this off ? . Best way to prevent it ?
  16. F me ! . If I stand still long enough in France I presume I get taxed !
  17. Jesus ! I daren’t set up a tent anywhere !
  18. Exactly ! It’s all about cash for the council ! Surprised if my wooden shed ( with no bathroom ) isn’t classed as habitable! ☺️
  19. No idea if they let either . The fact it has no toilet / bathing can’t qualify it as “ habitable “ - and yet triple council tax ….

  21. Confused by this one . A rental . Terraced house . On other side of wall a bedroom . So doesn’t appear to be roof as this is ground floor . Guttering is to the right - but again can’t see how that can be the cause . Any suggestions???
  22. Take out boiler cover . Around 500 a year ish but will ‘stretch’ the life of the boiler … Or - lease one which includes cover
  23. I felt happier running ufh with no matting just to check and almost deliberately let any cracks appear ( doorways in my case ) . Then I matted the lot . Cant you setup any short term power ? - borrow from neighbors / generator . Not strictly essential to run ufh with no matting - but I felt happier .
