Think I’ve got it !! test bed IMG_1098.MOV
-
Yet - I noticed that after posting . Correct way round now . That part C lip bit is causing me confusion now . Screwed it to a piece of wood to test how all this supposedly works - gone back to the double anti slam just too see ...
-
Ok . I decided to go AWOL ! I.e ignore instructions!! . I think I can get it working but it’s nothing like any of the instructions!!! . Not sure that’s classed as a good plan !!
-
-
The C bit is in the top of the rail . Anti slam just goes over it . Something has to hit that white rocker to trigger the anti slam but there isn’t anything .

Sorry I meant property income , SE with the current situation I.e SE 80% salary scheme . I certainly am not relying on a state pension .
-
Yes ; all my income comes from properties. Did read about classes of NIC and then got confused ?. But I might be trading as class 4 - I’ve no idea until my accountant replies . Equally before going SE I paid NI - I believe that historically that can count . Appreciate your replies and understand no one really knows how anyone is treated regarding SE and property . Assume the worst and hope for the best .
-
Oh I’m not worried . Never had any help from the government from redundancy to almost bankruptcy - so expecting nothing now . The tenant that just left I can and will claim his deposit . Problem is there’s no point trying to rent his room in the current situation. Be interesting to see what process HMRC use to choose which SE get help and which don’t .
-
Yeah . Could do . Slide push fit coupler up . Tiger seal both pipe ends . Then coupler down . Belts n braces approach preferred ! ??
-
The only thing that worries me is that as the pipes don’t line up precisely then will not go into the coupler dead straight . The coupler will be the point at which the pipes ‘bend’ as it were . Does a coupler allow for this ? I.e a certain degree of non straightness for the pipes entering ? ( basically no leak )
-
Yeah I know . I just took inspiration ( madness ) from your suggestion ?
-
@ProDave this yeah ? https://www.jtmplumbing.co.uk/pipe-fittings-c433/jtm-above-ground-soil-fittings-c741/jtm-double-socket-slip-coupler-p23366/s39677?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=jtm-grey-ds-slip-coupler-110mm-grey-ds-slip-coupler-110mm-grey-ds-slip-coupler-110mm-splg0019&utm_campaign=product%2Blisting%2Bads&cid=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpK_n_vrB6AIVCbTtCh1-CApNEAQYASABEgK5EvD_BwE Just tried it for proof of concept . And yes the pipes are too far apart - just wanted too see if the theory worked . But yes could marry them up with a slip coupling .
-
Probably I’m missing something ! So a slip coupling slides over one pipe and then slides down over the join ? Not heard of one because of course they don’t exist in weld world . Is a weld not better in these circumstances even if it’s a cut ?
-
I will . As you say it’s having the confidence in the joint as not used tiger seal before . Flow plas I trust 100% because you only have to wait 30 seconds ?
-
Ok yes ! Wouldn’t attempt with floplas ! . Tiger seal is in transit to me . This acceptable though ? - struggling to find another way to do it
-
I’ve actually got a coupler I could cut to do this. Not sure it would be flexible enough to go around the pipe . Could cut a ‘chunk’ out of it to make it fit , even glue the cut bit back in aswell . This all a big no no ??!?
-
Hmmmmm , I thought this joint would be the easy one ! As you can see I can get pretty close to a line up . But there’s no way I can insert / glue as I go - just not enough play . Taking @MikeSharp01 idea is this concept acceptable ? . Obviously I’d cut a longer overlay section . This then avoids the problem of pushing joint into joint .

7 tenants have no income now . Though they should get 80% of their salary ; whether they pay rent at that point who knows . 2 tenants were self employed but less than 3 year accounts - so won’t qualify. UC won’t cover the rent . 1 just up and left . I can’t rent any empty rooms ( currently 2 ) . Add that all up and there’s a fair bit of risk / lack of income.
-
Yeah . I’ve asked them . I wonder if you don’t get the golden ticket if ( via your accountant ) you are allowed to object !
-
But you might be pulling my leg a bit ...
-
Presume you meant agent is renting on behalf of the landlord . The rent I collect won’t be my income once I pay all the bills .I’m not trying to be argumentative- just struggling to see the difference .
-
No nothing !!!! You’re in the money @ProDave !! . But yes anything I get ( or most probably don't get ) I’ll post .
-
I wonder how HMRC will decide who gets financial help for SE . Do they just ignore anyone that states ‘landlord’ or will it have a bit more depth ??
-
Sorry I’m confused An agent will rent a property so is therefore not a service ? HMRC website states a few examples of what constitutes a ‘self employed landlord ‘ which equates to being active with aspects of management I.e a business . As opposed to having 100 properties and simply giving them to an agent would be viewed as an investment. It’s all very murky !!
-
But couldn’t a landlord be providing services to tenants each month ;,the same thing ? What I mean is a landlord with no agent is effectively the agent I.e does the job they would - surely a landlord can in certain circumstances constitute a trade ??
