😁 Washing machine job done Dishwasher job done I could charge some Dewalt batteries I suppose 😂 Drowning in excess lecky . Hence why I’m getting more storage
-
Oh yes ! I’d pv that roof ! . Do that and get a battery !
-
Diesel ! . You and you alone are killing the planet ! . You’re in sunny Cornwall I should imagine even with a small pv array you could be filling your boots ! . Get her an EV and some pv ( it would be a good Mother’s Day present ) 😁

The only thing you can do is “ the best with current technology “ . Insulation being I think the first thing ( doesn’t matter how you generate heat if you lose it all ) . An EV is a good way to have a battery without buying a battery ( if you see what I mean ) . Charge at cheap off peak rate in winter . Charge off solar in summer . Whilst that might not reduce heating / electric bill for the house you are saving on fuelling your car . Swings and roundabouts

Yep . In winter you get plenty of days where pv generates zero or if you are lucky 0.5kw . I’m in the south west of the country - your mileage may vary . Best you can do in winter is fill up a battery on off peak rate

Nothing to say !?

Yep . If storage is ‘an island ‘ and restricted export then you are sorted . I went with pw2 originally as that was the main ( if not only choice ) . Also my original aim was to export as much as possible. But it became clear the last thing I want to do is export ! . I want to store as much as possible and when no sunshine fill storage as much as possible at tou cheap rate .
-
@Thorfun I think a lot depends on what your DNO does / doesn’t want . You have 3 phase so assume your DNO would limit your export per phase - but you do have 3 ! . Also like me you probably want to export little / nothing . You can ask to have zero export then you can fill your boots . The best solution I found was as much storage as I want but capped/limited export . Best of both worlds . Your installer should be able to talk you through all this . I spoke directly to my DNO - she was super helpful- though I did turn on the charm 😁
-
It doesn’t *always * My pv goes through the gateway and exports at a max of 3.8kw ( my DNO limit ) . If I stick batteries on ‘that side ‘ then no matter my storage capacity I can only ever export 3.8kw . Therefore DNO don’t care and I could have a zillion giga watts of storage . Pw2 has an inverter integrated so can export on its own . So my DNO approved limit is my pv inverter max + pw2 max export .

When my glazing was installed I had maybe 12 guys on site . I went to the bakers and bought coffee , pasty , Doughnut and sandwich each . Cost me about 160 quid !! 😁🙄🙄😂 -
Paying tips to delivery drivers
Pocster replied to Omnibuswoman's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
If it is a ‘special delivery ‘ I.e he’s driven for hours then I offer use of the toilet , drink and give him 20 quid ( especially if he helps me unload ( not a euphemism ) ) . -
