  1. DNO says 20% VAT is applicable if it's an upgrade ?
  2. F*ck 'em and be damned. When you are up against it to dance to someone else's tune. You do what you need to do to survive. I've been in plenty of tight spots ( not with my build ) and admittedly cut corners , take risk because the alternative is worse. So you might get a slap on the hand from BCO so the (expletive deleted) what. You have more important things to worry about.
  3. Can’t duct cable into property underground. Allowed above ground ??
  4. Sex offenders register?
  5. If I have single phase already is the costing just the addition of 2 extra phases????
  6. Don't care KW, Kw, kW, K-W , KKWW, KKKWWW KAUU - whatever!
  7. I think I've been told some porkies, some mis-information and indeed mix that up with my lack of understanding creates a rubbish brain soup. 3 phase solves the issues also might not work out that much more expensive. I was told SE would be a more expensive install than simply strapping another PW on. So the 3 phase cost might effectively lessen again if going down the PW route... I just want lots of batteries so I can sell my electric to my neighbours at vastly inflated rates! ?
  8. Absolutely. My assumption is she's just looked at a google earth view and done street to door. As I have underground complex and driveway infront and assuming cable can run over these the 'dig' length can be reduced substantially...
  9. Yeah probably me mis-understanding. I guess I should say my total number of inverters connected to the grid can not exceed 8kw of export. I think that's right.....
  10. Yeah . We all know about kryton given all the Tesla goodies for free .
  11. Had a brilliant phoncecall with DNO. Now I understand. The issue is I have 2 inverters that can export . PV and the Tesla PW one. So my theoretical maximum output is 8kw. I'm simply not allowed anymore. So.... Options are a SE battery or similar which goes into the PV inverter i.e. DNO don't care. Or maybe back looking at 3 phase. I went back to the DNO for a 3 phase install estimate. I have no detail ( presume length of run is a cost ) so *assume* she did street to front door ( but there are a few tricks I can do there ) and she said 6k inc vat. Assume VAT is 20% on these things so can knock that off. Also can a mains cable i.e. the 3 phase be above ground? ( obviously in some armoured conduit ). I can't drill into underground mega complex but I can take a cable across the front and conveniently through an existing hole in the above ground structure that practically everything currently runs through. I assume 3 phase solves all my issues. I can just stick a new PW2 on a different phase. Indeed I could have 3 PW2 - could I not? She knew of no-one with 2 PW - well love, POCSTER is now in town!
  12. End contract with builder early to solve his liability issue . You then take out insurance to live on site in an incomplete dwelling . This type of insurance is more expensive I have it and I think @ProDave does also . All problems solved ! I did it this way also because I didn’t fancy bankruptcy either ?
  13. As I’m the builder and the last conversation I had with bco was asking when they needed to come and inspect next . They replied “ when finished “ . Not finished , so …….. ?
  14. I doubt it . Surely I could tell …?
  15. 3 phase was ( from memory ) 10k
  16. So nothing to do with import / export ? . Simply the amount I *could* generate ???
  17. This is what’s confusing me . If my export is capped at 3.6kw regardless of how many batteries I have that’s fine . Spoke to various installers , 10 different answers . Decided to call my DNO directly . Get it straight from the horses mouth tomorrow…
  18. Yes . I’m not trying to be greedy lol . In reality zero export would be fine - but in summer might be a bummer - but perhaps that is just tough …. Trying to use summer sun to offset winter costs . Still confused anyway . Afaik I’m only allowed 1 inverter . Tesla has an inverter and SE would require one also . Called SE - some call centre somewhere; he knew less than me !
  19. The more questions I ask the more confused I get “ It is to do with the voltage increases - without export limitation we are only allowed a 1% increase, with export limitation we are allowed a 2.5% increase. In this instance, the voltage rise would be above 2.5% in both cases, so export limitation is not an option.“ I believe the issue is that an export limitation triggered by DNO can take upto 5 seconds to action ….
  20. As you say , at least you have errors reported …. A temperamental boiler reporting no error codes is worse . Valiant engineers in my experience of using them for decades are usually pretty good .
  21. Ummmmmmm
  22. ? ummmmm , still not done anything with this yet - on my to do list …

    I’ve still learnt nothing
  24. DNO unsurprisingly refused my request . But potential installer says solarEdge can. Charge from grid . Wtf ! . New installer says DNO don’t care about how much I draw it’s how much I export . So I’m confused again . Why can’t I just have another PW2 and have a limiter on my export …
