Can a plasterer skim tile backer board ? . You can get that in 5mm …. 🤔
-
Rest is all plasterboard . So really just want to change the 1 piece ( per window ) - otherwise more work
-
I’ve messed up a bit 🙄 Some internal below ground light well windows are too tight to the wall when open . Wall return is 9.5mm plasterboard . My BM won’t ( can’t ! ) get thinner plasterboard . Is there any other product I can use ( 5mm or less thickness ) that a plasterer can still skim without issue ?

`Basements, and the change to B.S.8102

Thanks . Myself and my architect both agreed at that start that stopping water was difficult, managing it easier . To date ( probably 5 yrs now ) no water ingress has occurred on my diy project . -
Not quite the same subject but I went to get a quote from 3 solicitors to own a tiny plot of land ( long story ) . First said it was impossible to own . Second said it would cost 5k and a 50/50 chance Third said . 100% sure I can own it . Need a barrister and 15k !!! Took a year , did it myself for about 100 quid

That’s easy ! I’m your favourite customer f s mate ; don’t want to remortgage if I pay now do I get a 10% discount you know I’ll be a repeat customer other BM is cheaper , but you guys are nicer Currently for my BM when I call I say “ Can I buy some of your crap , expensive products ? “ . Probably up the price for me - but who knows . So banter / cheek / don’t ask don’t get attitude

Depends on number of stories . Think it has to be over 6 ( might be wrong on that ) . Equally have mega service charge and ground rent . Oh and mortgage costs doubling 🙄🫤

2023-03-22-0010.pdfWell this is turning out to be a right pandora's box. I don't qualify as I couldn't tick *any* option on one of the forms. The problem though after rereading it can be highlighted simply with " do not own more than 2 dwellings " I assume I do. But then why does it say dwelling not property ?. A dwelling is somewhere someone can live and a property could not be i.e. habitable? ( but then a dwelling could not be habitable ). Government website on this is shite " some buy to let landlords may not qualify " - but with no definition of "some" Spoke to freeholder company ; they are as confused as me. Though as it stands (for now ) I don't qualify because I didn't tick any other option ( apparently it's an offence to lie ). Guess I just wait this one out for government to decide wtf it means. Obviously a "property" could not be somewhere to live e.g. a shop. But the very first question on this form uses the word "home".... Actually here is the form... 2023-03-22-0010.pdf

Worktop overhanging on flush handless kitchen

Looks awesome ! What brand / make ? -
I need ews1 like everyone else to keep lenders happy . Flats in question have no cladding . So the costs are for all the other ‘ remedial ‘ work that is required . I’ve been told by the freeholder I don’t qualify for any government grants ( haven’t been given a reason yet ) . Anyone else got experience of this where the leaseholder is expected to foot the bill ?

Too neat - don’t like it . Wasting time fannying around not building -

Yeah ; I’m slack with clip pipes though 😊 Just strap them to anything instead . Here’s my timber bolted to the steel . 2.6m timber with 4 bolts . Total weight hanging of it will be around 2kg 🙄🤣 It don’t move though -

I use too many noggins , too many screws , too many bolts . I jump and climb on everything to test it . Whilst it may not look pretty better to be overkill than under kill . -

@Thorfun Just get a mag drill ( did some yesterday ) . Drill your holes in steel . Coach bolt timber to it - rock mofo solid . ah see you’ve gone with sds and tek screws . Be keen too see how you get on -
I’m working around stuff as we live on site I.e everything gets in the (expletive deleted)ing way . If a complete empty room I could probably do 20 holes an hour maybe by pushing the bit in harder and not fannying around .
-
Hole 10mm . Depth of steel 20mm Probably once going ( I take it steady ) 3 minutes to cut hole . Cleaning up the metal ‘ splinters ‘ ( they go everywhere- 20 mins . Setting up a few minutes . Turning off magnetic when you shouldn’t means shutting down takes 5 seconds . 😁
-
Yeah , I’ve got a full face mask ( fine with glasses ) but steams up in 1 second . Done the other holes now . Once each is done ; I leave the drill and magnet running then change glasses . Tbh I think even blind folded I know which switch not to touch .
-
Before anyone asks no where to tie drill to in event of this or power failure . Anyway who wants a 20 kg drill swing into their face .
-
Near accident … I wear gloves and proper goggles as this drill spits the metal out . I wear glasses and the goggles won’t fit over them . So I drill semi blind …. Decided to turn the drill off but couldn’t see the writing in it which said “ electromagnetic “ . Shit me up a bit when it fell …. 🙄

🙄🙄🙄 we’ve all been there …
-
Nice and steady with mag drill . Occasional wd40 on tip . No worries
