  1. They are just two wood burning stoves, each with a stainless steel flue pipe?
  2. In doing the calculations, do I need to take air infiltration into account from the 2 x 150mm stove flue pipes ?
  3. I've downloaded the Vent Calcs spreadsheet and I'm filling it in, however I'm unsure what the finished tables should look like. Would anyone be willing to share their completed spreadsheet? Also, there is a long waiting list for the loan MVHR test equipment. Has anyone hired the equipment, if so, where from? https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=23287
  4. Maybe a trip to the Building Research Establishment might be in order, to look at their test homes. BRE Group - World leaders in built environment research and development
  5. Talk to the Land Registry and tell them of your interest in the land, as do your neighbours. Ask them to register the land in you and your neighbours names. Get the ball rolling.
  6. We had a smart meter fitted, when we moved the power supply into an outbuilding. They also gave us a user display, however this won’t work as it can’t communicate with the smart meter, as it’s too far away. What options do I have to get usage information out of the smart meter?
  7. I have two under floor heating manifolds, each with a dedicated circulating pump. On closer inspection, I've found they both pumps have variable speed settings. Any thoughts as to what speed these pumps should be running at?
  8. Water analysis should confirm the source of your water and its quality. Make sure they sample and test the water in a laboratory.
  9. Let us know what the water company say and do. We might be able to suggest the next course of action, if needed.
  10. This is why he needs the Water company to take samples. If the cold tap is plumbed via the head tank, the available chlorine results at analysis would be lower than tap water from the main. It’s a quick and easy test.. The OP suggested an automatic irrigation system was installed in the cannabis farm. I bet there was no non-return valve fitted, hence cross contamination can not be ruled out, particularly given the reference to poor taste of the water.
  11. @Ricky65 The only answer is chemical analyses of the drinking water. I'd call the Local Water Company today, tell them about the Police raid and your health issue, and how this is as a result of the actions of the criminals involved. Inform the Water Company, the flats water system has been tampered with, and you have tainted water issues, and possible cross contamination from illegal chemicals being used in the production of cannabis. If they do nothing, contact the Drinking water inspectorate, link here https://www.gov.uk/check-drinking-water-quality
  12. Having done a search of local companies, I‘v got one who’s quoted £350 for the post completion test, she comes recommended by someone on here. Does the cost sound reasonable ?
  13. No, it’s privatisation of BC at its best. One of the six lasted a month before moving on, others a few months. Many were straight out of university and wet behind the ears. The latest guy is from the company that recently acquired the BC company. He’s trying to clean up the books of slow self builders.
  14. @Nickfromwales Thanks for the link, just what I needed. Hopefully he'll be happy, mind you he's the 7th Inspector on my build and he's finding that the other 6 didn't file anything, so he's having to tick all the boxes himself.!! @LA3222 I measured my water flow with a jug. It's too cold around here to use my wig !
  15. So my bog standard squirty foam wont do?
  16. I need to get a post completion air tighness test done to keep BC happy. I’ve listed all my openings to the outside, such as waste pipes, drains and ducts. How do you seal a duct with a group of cables in it? I was thinking of expanding foam, but how easy is it to remove, if I need to add cables etc?
  17. Have BC raise an issue? If not, do nothing.
  18. Just an update, I had an air tightness test done at frame up and air tight stage. However I can't find the certificate, I do recall the guy printing it off on the day, but its miss placed or miss filed it !! I've tried to contact the guy, but like a lot of one man bands, he disappeared due to Covid and his phone is discontinued and the email just go unanswered. So It looks like I'll be getting a new test done. Now I just need to figure out where all the waste pipes and cable ducts are and how to seal them, along with the MVHR ducts and anything else that needs sealing!
  19. It looks like they also want to know how much water we are likely to use. I’ve contacted the plumber for the discharge flow rate of each item in the bathrooms and kitchen, as a starter for ten.
  20. According to the Building Inspector, I need a post completion pressure test of the house. I had assumed this was done by the timer frame company, but sadly no, they assumed I'd get it done. I'm in Cumbria, can anyone recommend anyone to do the test and what sort of price am I looking at ? Message me if privately if wish.
  21. In order to issue the Completion Certificate the Building Inspector is asking for a copy of the Wholesome Water Calculations. Has anyone got any example of what is required and in what format, as I'm getting various answers, when searching on-line.
  22. My rigid plastic duct is glued together using the same glue as the plastic waste pipe.
  23. Our Smart Meter came with a usage Display. The problem is the smart meter is in an outbuilding about 20 metres from the main house. Her indoor wants to use the display, so Is there any way to get the display working in the house? I assume the display and the smart meter talk to each other using Bluetooth or WiFi or other such new fangled means?
  24. Don't forget flying things trying to eat their way in. Had a wasps nest under the eaves this year. They buggered off recently, so went up to pull the nest out and block the hole up, to find they’er chewed through the exterior timber frame membrane and the OSB.
