Hello Moira, Its a Bosch one. campbellmillertools.co.uk usually do the best prices.... Ian -
All suggestions really welcome. I want to link to resources that have a high-quality evidence-base for their assertions, easily accessible in terms of readability and audibility have practical application to self building are concise and well-edited have obviously high production values The points about tidying up have sparked an idea....... laters!

A quick review of BH (and other self-build sites) shows a close correlation between any part of the self-build process and the onset of what we - and many others - would call stress. And not just minor, ignorable levels of stress either. We can easily list the triggers, and we can describe the symptoms. And to an extent we can all do something about them. But reading between the lines in many posts, I see uncomfortable levels of irritation and annoyance. Most of us don't describe it in the posts as stress, but that's what it is. So I thought I would offer links to a set of publicly available resources which might help us. Truth to be told, they have helped and are helping me: I'm just sharing them. Where possible and when time allows, I'll write a quick synopsis to help you decide whether you want to spend the time listening to it. Treat my synopsis with respectful criticism, please. My notes on what he says will be as selective as any. This post will be one of a series. This is a video of Jordan Peterson talking about risk taking. Stress is normal (1:00) Observe courage in yourself ( Catch yourself being good, effective) (1:30) Attempting something difficult is generally good for you - but perhaps not always Lift your aim up, attempting difficult stuff is a good way of encouraging mastery Proving yourself to be useful is a very positive thing - among those who recognise your efforts as helpful (2:50) If not, the opposite is the case Inform yourself about the challenge ahead, and then grasp it (3:36) Small, manageable challenges successfully faced make you braver, not less afraid. (4:20) The unknown is adventure - and might be habit forming (5:15) Jordan Peterson is a practising clinical psychologist and an academic at the University of Toronto: I refer to him because his remarks are evidence-based. It would also be fair to say that he is seen by many as controversial.

Indeed. Just one step up from kipping in your car: which is what I'll be doing if I don't get a few more things mended around the house. -

There's nowt for it. I'll have to buy some. And with my hands, I'll need Kwikstage (KS) not Cuplock. There are other systems worth considering Done some due diligence on BH, and this seems to be the general wisdom; For a slow self-build, the business case is compelling This thread is a general discussion about KwikStage Here's a useful post made by @ProDave ; gives a good feel for how much scaffold you'll get for how much money And a bit of poking round on Tinternet shows we can get new KS fairly readily, and there is easy access to guides on how it's put together I'm using that PDF as a checklist for parts. If I am to make an offer based on this suggestion, I need to know what to look for: £3k is not a small chunk of anyone's money. Caveat Emptor. What should I look out for in second hand Kwikstage?

and and and and '...Tiredness and stress of the build is increasingly affecting concentration and logical thought...' and then '...I'd snap my right arm off to be able to build my own home, so chin up mate. ...' He's right. Most people , offered the chance, would give up a lot to be able to do what we are. Knowing that doesn't make it less stressful though does it?

Mate I just do as I'm told. At the moment if you suggested I go for a bucket of foam from Screweys I dutifully go and order one. And as for you @Construction Channel, with any luck Faye will fly your drone into the middle of the Wash and land it there, carefully. And not tell you. -

Got mine today... Scanned it briefly. Looks like one of those cases where a tiny bit of knowledge might be quite dangerous, so I'll continue to double check before I grope around any more in circuits. Next little challenge..... Now I need to fill the trench I dug in the wall. There seems to me to be potential for dampish stuff to trickle into the back of the switch. Not good. How do I stop that? -

Bob-on John. Yes, it does interest me. Today is the first time I have ever taken a switch out and poked around in it's gubbins. Bit frightening, but how hard can it be? (to cite @Construction Channel) This whole wiring lark reminds me of delving into someone else's JavaScript and CSS mess. It seems to be analogous to mixing coding conventions (in sparky lingo: brown and red meaning the same thing), and then having to delve into the mind behind a lazy bit of coding (wiring) which works -probably by accident rather than design . OSG? Operational safety Group? Strapper? It's a bit of wire? Wago? A connector? Intermediate? The wire that crosses across the back of my switch (in this case the red one)? I could really get in to this. I enjoyed it. -

Did this before snipping so all I need to do is copy it. 3 and E : off to get a bit from a Shed. I'll try hauling on the end of the bit of wire that I have exposed , if not cut back a good deal more. Thanks for the support, both of you Ian -

Rivalling @Onoff's capacity for procrastination, I'm getting round to mending this today... This is what I found Nice one, Ian. Hmmm, stripping it out further, I got to this... Taking it one step further...... Now, remember, I will never know as much as some of you hAve already forgotten about electricity..... But 4 wires? 4 Wires? Whassat about then? In a sense it doesn't matter because all I need to do is crimp a new wire (sleeved) to each end and then poke them into the switch box, connect up and switch on . Innit? -
@Russell griffiths, all you need to know about how I identify with you is written - scorched- into this post of mine
