  1. If you’ve paid for the reports previously Go ahead and use them
  2. I did wonder if the charge percentage varied from LAs We were asked for 48k within six weeks of starting Later 0 rated On our first build we had never heard of Cil and found it very strange that the Architects Took care of everything But wouldn’t have anything to do with the Cil Second time round Different Architects Exactly the same attitude to Cil When we signed off Someone on here said don’t forget to complete your Cil Again No mention from Architects Seems very strange to me
  3. Reading all of the above I would say that you will be wasting your time per suing the Architect Both Architects on our builds forwarded the Cil forms and reminded us that it was our responsibility I guessing this has happened before Your best bet would be to try and at least get the ridiculous amount reduced At 124k your build must be a mansion
  4. I don’t think they have a plan Other than throwing unrealistic numbers out there
  5. Not really Gypsun sell an acoustic hanger fitting if needed I definitely wouldn’t hang a ceiling off the bottom of the other ceiling
  6. It’s quite simple to set out No I wouldn’t do it that way Using one hanger to catch both ceilings is much stronger We do quite a lot like this on department stores and hotels In effect there left with a large ceiling Freshly taped with 1200 mil of hangers sticking out Then the shoplifters come in and do there stuff Then put a ceiling in using our hangers
  7. You will get a much better job if you haunt your build and restart it in the summer Nice dry weather and long bright sunny days I suspect this is what your builder will point out
  8. Seems like your being over critical Choose your words when speaking to your builder
  9. Just clean around the brick before the next skin goes in The periscopic vents arnt anywhere near airtight and often rely on the insulation to hold them in place
  10. I don’t get asked for quarry tiles anymore But they are bombproof
  11. I paid half that for 20 weeks 200m2 two years at the height of the price hike But was also quoted similar to you from the company that did our previous build They had grown from a dozen employees to over fifty I found a guy that had only been going 18 months Shop around
  12. You board through them cut a 30 mil square on any that land on the boards Seal up with acoustic seal Don’t forget to tape and seal the joints before installling the second ceiling I do this regularly on apartment’s etc Its probably in Gypsum’s white book It will show the hangers with a bolt washer and rubber You don’t need to do this Nailed or screwed is fine
  13. Yes you can Put your hangers at 800 apart and long enough to catch your second ceiling Put your top hat on and board round the hangers Then install your second ceiling using the hanger tails
  14. That is absolutely normal I really don’t understand this If you bought the materials yourself You would still pay the vat Unless the job is reclaimable Is he charging you vat on the labour
  15. I think that a few years ago you could put a post on like this (With a site plan) and someone in the know would give you a definitive answer Usually no chance But with the targets that this government are setting Nowhere is safe
  16. I can’t keep agreeing with you Dave Yes keep it it basic You can always add extra later If you can afford
  17. You will probably find that half of the 700 is for your builders time No one works for free Not even builders
  18. Yep they should be sealed around everything Your Probably over thinking it If your worried about later cosmetic changes Fixing a shelve really won’t make any difference
  19. Plus 1? Our Electrian works for a multinational company that only uses Fusebox Half the price of our previous Box
  20. You can put your screed down anytime once you are watertight If it’s sand and cement it won’t be pours More likely barrowed in or blown in
  21. I’ve run a plastering company for forty years Wet plastering labour is more but materials are less So evens itself out Settlement cracks are about the same I could have done either on our builds But chose dot and dab as it’s a warmer feel I used to use thousands of bags of Parge each year Mostly for sound deadening But even the housing associations have dropped it now it’s a complete waste of money Only self builders seem to use it You should be sealing the boards to stop the air getting behind them Our air test has tested as a 2 Traditional solid build Lotss of glass and three vaulted ceilings Which is good enough for comfort If you do decide to use Parge Don’t call it airtightness coat Tell the dry liners that it’s what it says on the back SOUND BLOCK coat Or they won’t bother sealing anything up Fifteen years ago when we used Parge on nearly every job the blockwork was shocking Gaps in joints and snots everywhere Then overnight BC clamped down and all joints where pointed and bar finished No need for Parge
  22. Tell them to pack there shit and leave Tell the person they are working for the same and bring someone else in There standards are obviously lower than yours No amount of pulling them up will make any difference
  23. Insulation levels look quite low Wet plaster and dot and dab work out about the same Certainly if you are going to the bother of page coat Which is a waste of money If your looking at payback times PV in well insulated house will take many many years
  24. It tends to be planners that use this to stop a development You can only apply and see what there objects are If any
