worldwidewebs
I need about 50m of 110mm ducting for electrical cable - SP Energy have quoted me £93.24 including VAT. Who have you guys used?
PeterW
Not a bad price - do you really need 110mm though as that is a very chunky duct ..?
ProDave
SSE specified 110mm for the electricity duct but did not question when presented with she smaller 65 (or was it 56?)mm duct. I only needed short lengths so bought some leftovers from ebay.
worldwidewebs
110mm was just what he quoted. Happy to use smaller if acceptable though
PeterW
Most I've seen are 65mm ..?? If it's only taking a single supply cable then that should be fine as long as the bend radius isn't too tight.
DeeJunFan
NIE have asked me to fit 150mm ducting for a mains branch off cable, and then a 100mm duct after a multi service joint. thats for 35mm cable. Seems a bit much but will give room for additional pull cord etc.
Declan52
100mm duct makes it alot easier to pull cable esp if there are bends. You would never pull 35mm cable through 54mm duct as the rope and tape will catch at a bend and then you are in the shat.
Oz07
Not bad price. Last time I bought 3no. 100mm rolls (gas, leccy, water) I seem to remember it being over 300 with Vodka and Tonic. Citrus rings a bell as the firm who supplied
Oz07
By the way even National Grid are now requesting 110mm. You need to lay any smaller stuff really well with minimal bends to avoid problems. I got a bit nervous when I saw the size and stiffness of the 95NCE? which had to be pulled thru my 110mm. Lucky we had some digger tracks to wind the rope up on! Onoff
That seems a good price. I've been looking here (albeit for green duct for CCTV). Their 110mm is more expensive: http://www.drainagepipe.co.uk/products/flexible-underground-ducting/flexi-duct-x-50m-coil/110mm/black/
worldwidewebs
So, it's: black for electric; blue for water; yellow for gas; grey for BT/telecoms. @Onoff Why green for CCTV?
Declan52
Green is normal for cable TV here, red for fibre optic and purple for motor way communications. CCTV can go in grey won't make no difference. The important ones are the yellow and black. There the ones that can kill you. Make sure you have them covered with marker tape 250mm above the duct. Have come across water pipes in grey before. Most times waterpipe will just be laid in sand/dust with no duct.
